NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I was thinking with an apparent second wave of Covid coming... if we go in to a lockdown again this will have a very bad effect on supply lines and OcUK's ability to staff the warehouse etc....

Also this could affect shipments form abroad coming in to the country as well.

We could be waiting a VERY long time for cards.

Don’t worry, the scalpers have got you covered ;)

Seen lots of opinions on the price change, I have probably an unpopular opinion and say it's good they increased the prices a bit. They have a massive amount of orders over MRSP, this will give them stronger purchasing power to compete against other retailers and still provide decent profits. Since now they know they have orders secured already. If they don't get units quick, more and more cancel and will wait for AMD launch for more competition, so id say their is a battle around distributors right now and while their is a spread for AIB's to push them equally and deal directly, that just isn't the case overall when dealing with so much demand.

Yes mate it's great that we as consumers are being ripped off by benevolent retailers such as overclockers so that it gives them.better buying power!

even worse is as we get nearer to a no deal wto and pound goes to parity with the dollar and supply chains get messy, they are going to be even scarcer

If one retailer does it, they almost all have too, otherwise the won't be able to compete in sourcing more stock. Since customers are willing to pay that little bit extra if it means getting a card on day one. It nobody was willing to pay it, they simply wouldn't get a way with doing it. I'm just saying at least it offers a potential benefit for to the paying customers. While scummy the way it happened and there is no excuse. It might give some a better chance of getting card.

You are basically describing price fixing which is not only immoral, but also illegal.

This is definitely more opportunity than agreement. Although they can't compete by lowering the price as they simply don't have the stock to do it; but on the other side, if a large retailer kept their price at MSRP, they should have gotten way more sales, but ultimately folks went with the retailers they felt had the best chance of securing stock. The fact the price changes happened right at the nose of release is the truly reprehensible thing a retailer can do and should rightfully result in lost consumers. However, as I said before, I'm not agreeing with any of the tactics, but merely highlighting a potentially good side for consumer that really wants to secure a card early, but overall it's a bad situation for anyone to be it, as cancelling means loosing your place in the queue.
