I'm just gonna wait for @Gibbo to update the stock thread on 3080s. I don't really care which one I get as I'll be WC'ing (as long as there's a block that fits). Just the waiting
Block for Gigabyte is not out yet so no rush for me. But think standard WOULD MAYBE fit looking at pcb changes made by Gigabyte. OFc flash better bios to it also :D

Appreciate that but if global demand is a large as it sounds then like I say it will take time for everyone in the supply chain to ramp production, some may be having to switch production from other lines. I work in product/category management, currently at a large IT Distributor but previously have worked at Apple, Acer and Samsung. Graphics cards are a small part of the current massive demand for IT equipment, and with the announcement that people will probably be working from home for at least six months the already massive demand for PC's, laptops and printers has increased again. Some of the largest manufacturers/brands in the word are having issues giving ETA's and its been like this since March, I'm ordering products I expect in January now but I don't know what stock I'll be receiving in October that I ordered in June, current supply chains are really that screwed up due to high demand and COVID.

I posted earlier that they've been producing this GPU series since at least 15th July that's 2 months before launch day at least. They managed an estimated 20K units for worldwide sale in that time maybe fewer, but if they carry on production at that rate it's going to take an age to clear this backlog even if they double production rates !

:p It looked to be running alright in the streamed footage. It's not until GN gave out his review, it shows it's not very good at it at all when you can see the numbers. It's not a card for me anyway, too expensive for a GPU to play games on. I'll just sit here patiently for my 3080
My mate wants one sooo bad for work. He does Contractor stuff in unreal engine needs VRAM and Raytracing, but thats side jobs for him thats why not interested in quadro cards.

Ye seen Your's post also the post that OCUK had apparently 1% of global amount of cards with numbers we seen makes scene

It was never a prospect that 8k games would be playable across the board without DLSS.
If you want to play on an 8k screen you have to accept the need to use DLSS.
And how many games have that? What percentage of new games that come out have it?

Tbh, they never said that the games were running on ONE 3090. Wouldn't be surprised if they were running it on 2. It's all shady marketing practice. Like GN said they're great for 3d renderers or other pros who don't want to shell out 6k on a quadro for Blender/Max etc. I might get one for my business rig but atm I happy with what it's got, I just want a better gaming card for at home and the 3080 is plenty up to the task for the price.

Looks like next year for a monitor upgrade.
No point if i can't get a 30 series of any description.

I wonder if Nvidia, AIB and resellers are going to go for third times a charm with the 3070.

Unexpected levels maybe for the 3080 as it was frst out the blocks, then back to square 1 again for the 3090, surely they can't fluff it for a 3rd time:D:D:D:D

AMD must be peeing themselves

Or are they? Nvidia was very agressive with pricing compared to the 20 series. So they must know the amd threat is very real.
Imagine if amd comes out, ballpark 3080 performance and price, but no stock issues.

Well here's a couple of warning bells from 2nd of September which I certainly missed:

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/7491....it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=tweaktown

https://www.techradar.com/news/you-might-have-trouble-getting-an-nvidia-rtx-3080-or-3090-until-2021

Reason given for lack of supply:

"Another source had something much more damning to say, but I want to flesh that out before I write it. For now, I'm being told stock will be extremely low for the next couple of months. Why? Samsung 8nm yields are unknown at this point, NVIDIA might not want to make too many before the yields improve."

"They'd also want to wait and see what AMD does with its own RDNA 2 reveal, but different sources tell me AMD is on a roll with Ryzen and that "Big Navi will just drag them down". Wowzers. So now I really want to see how Big Navi goes -- and whether it can get anywhere close to the GeForce RTX 3080"

We were warned we just didn't see it!

There is another issue on top of this. Nvidia were supposed to launch Ampere back in March, but the covid lockdown forced them to postpone the announcement. If everything was finalised for a March launch then it shouldn't have needed a massive panicked tooling up operation for partners. March is 6 months ago now.

We can but cross our fingers for performance bang on the money.
Hopefully AMD have good distrubtion partners lined up.

All I want to know still is when we're getting STRIX cards through for sure, I've heard "ASUS" mentioned and TUF, only mention I've heard is STRIX cards would be coming in later this week (said at the start of this week) But nothing yet :(. I don't mind waiting but fully being in the dark is a little rough.

Note to self: Never call OCUK so close to closing time ever again. Had a question about my order, and I started the call at 5. Was on hold for 30 mins, only for them to hang up on me. Ugh. Ah well, I'll try again tomorrow.

Glad peeps have got their cards shipped today though, which also means my card is getting closer to the front of the queue :D

Hey guys, just thought of another scenario, imagine if AMD do knock it out the park with their next announcement, 28th October I believe, only few weeks. I imagine if they do there will be a massive influx of 3080 cancellations, hell I might even cancel if Big Navi is anything close to it's rumoured leaks so far.

Asus themselves said Strix stock wouldn't be until w/c 28th at the earliest.

8th October is Zen 3 CPUs... RX6000 GPU announcement isn't until 28th Oct.
