What is the best "temporary' graphic card while waiting for 3080?

My new system is almost done (except GPU) and it seems I'll be waiting for a 3080 for 2-3 months..
So I thought maybe I use a cheaper card in the meantime and then sell it once I could get a 3080..

What card(s) do you think are best suited? so that they can run some games reasonably (1440p 60fps),and yet don't depreciate in price too much after 2-3 months so I can sell it when I find a 3080. I'd rather something under £250 even £200.

(My monitor is Ultra Wide 3440x1440)

any suggestions?

I'd say a 2nd hand 1080ti is most likely your best bet as a 2nd hand card shouldn't lose as much value as a new one. Or spend more and get a 2nd hand 2070/2080 to run the resolution and Hz you're after.

I’m using an Acer Predator x34a and for the time being I’ve pinched my wife’s 5600xt. I’m properly impressed with it to be honest. It lets me play rainbow six at 3440x1440 100Hz. (Mostly low settings but whatever) and final fantasy 15. It’s keeping up with everything I throw at it. I could say it has more performance in the tank but the way I’m set up it’s not skipping any frames so I’m happy.

I was in the same boat and cancelled my order for a 3080 as I was 1200 back on the list. Picked up a 2070 super for £400 with 3 year warranty. Probably do me till I can trade it against a 3080 super or something when they become available

if its only for a short while id grab a 1070 or 1080. you aint getting a 1080ti for £200 they closer to £300

Or the one you already own, I still have an EVGA RTX 2080 XC Ultra, but ordered a Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3080 XTREME. So hopefully I will get it before Christmas and i can sell my 2080 cheap to some one.
I don’t own any GPU currently, last PC was over 6 years ago, been console gaming after that but decided to go PC again with 3080.

2070 Super was perfect when I was playing at that res. If you want to keep costs down, a used 1080ti? Personally I kept my 2080 Super and cancelled the auction.

So I found a 1080TI for £230,how does that sound? my main priority is to not lose too much money when I sell it once i can find a 3080.
which can take 2-3 months as you know.

Run reasonably "1440p 100hz at least". "Under £200"
Get real dude. The best temporary card is the cheapest you can play the games you want to on and be reasonably happy with, therefore it is entirely subjective. If I had to go out and buy a GPU for the next 2 months of use I'd get a 770 for like £50 and make do, anything dearer is wasteful.

In my case, the problem with newer than 1080ti cards is that i think they’ll deprecate more in next few months vs a 1080 (I could be wrong) but since it’ll definitely be a temporary card,I wanted a low risk card that I can quickly sell once I could find a 3080.
