Genuine question, why are people spending so much money for such a little performance increase over the 3080? I'd like to understand people's motives as you're spending an entire builds worth of money+ on a single component.

Please let me know.

If you think it would be a more sensible option buying the 3080 then soon the 3080ti/super comes out. Would all of those people who bought the 3080 be wishing they had waited? If it’s about saving money then why not just buy the 3070, it will be cheaper, or even better 3070ti/super if it happens?

Personally I am buying the 3090 because i got a good price on my 2080ti, and I don’t want to upgrade for around two years. This card will hopefully be the top of the line until the next big thing.

Nothing is certain in this game. But as an enthusiast, if you can afford it, why not? Is any of it really worth the money we pay?

Looks better than I thought it would! Enjoy!
yeah! I think its the rgb on the product display image that makes it look awful. The card itself its actually quite nice.

Looks really good in the system :) How's the fan noise out of curiosity? Been reading that at full load it's pretty loud.

not the quietest i have to say, i had the x trio before on a 2080 and that was really quiet in comparison. Yeah default fan curve is quite loud so i opted for a custom curve via afterburner and its a lot better now. Card does chuck out a lot of heat. Gonna slap a waterblock on it soon so we’ll see how that goes with temps.

Looks like I’m second on the list for the 3090 Rog Strix OC which is good. Still have no idea when OC are getting the cards though lol.

Having been through 16 pages, no-one else appears to have order one of the below. Hoping that means I’ll be able to get hold of one a bit quicker....

I was tempted to get one of these but I didn't see any reviews of the 3080 version so took a guess that these would be one of the versions that will be shipped later on.

Thanks for the list! Here are my order details:

Asus GeForce RTX 3090 ROG Strix
Date ordered: 24/09/2020 14:06:29
Internet Reference: OC4045199

Adding my details to the list:

Order Number: 58814** (Internet Reference: OC4046125)
Date ordered: 24/09/2020 14:40:36
Asus GeForce RTX 3090 ROG Strix OC

I place pretty low down it seems. I thought, though, that only the 'Order Number' found in confirmation was relevant to the priority because the OC is given at point of purchase and Order Number is generated on cleared payment?

Doesnt matter how you cut it, don't think I'll see a card before December.

I want the absolute best and dont mind paying for it. It also helps having a really well paying job lol. I game in both 1440p 120hz and am about to buy a lg cx 48" 4k 120hz OLED and those extra fps make a nice difference.

I've updated the google docs and my excel file I linked up to this point. As to having only the internet ref number - its what people have been adding - anyway its a rough guide until the official data from OC themselves.

Oh damn number 7 on the list for this card (sorry Kivafck I pipped you to the post by 4 order numbers). Really getting my hopes up now

did they even have the Gaming X Trio in stock? I'm wondering if anyone received one from OC cos I rang them and they said they only had Ventus...

Dont think so - Gibbo posted this earlier that day :-

This is my hint and tips to those wanting a 3090.

We have a small amount on Zotac and Palit.
We have a very small amount on Asus TUF, Gigabyte Eagle & Gaming, MSI Ventus and PNY.

As long as I'm gonna get my card in October time or before the release of Cyberpunk and Black ops Cold war, I'll be happy :)
Cyberpunk is the big one for me, but I bought Control preemptively and really want to play it
Fallen into the "can't play any games until my 3090 arrives" trap
