Sorry for the mass quoting, but I feel it may be relevant to all the above. I asked in the customer support forum the following:

"
I have just seen on the relevant thread that positions are assigned not based on when orders are placed, and payment is held/started, but when the payment is actually fully processed. For e.g that in my case for order

Order Number: [ SNIP ]

Date ordered: 17/09/2020 15:10:23

Payment Method: Amazon_Payments

Shipping Method: DPD Two Day

that my position would not be based on the 15:10:23 on the 17th, which is when Amazon said the transaction had started, but rather 00:31 on the 18th when amazon said the transaction had completed. Can you please confirm this?"

and received the following response:

"Q positions are based upon date/time ordered - your position will be based off the following: Date ordered: 17/09/2020 15:10:23 "

So it looks like it's when the payment is started, not when it is completed. Hope it puts your minds at ease!

Can confirm as I have just got off the phone and they gave me a rough queue estimate, but not only that, they said to me that by a couple days from now, they'll have a queue updater on the main site and also they will send emails giving people their queue estimates.

The queue calculator is absolutely inaccurate as being told I was somewhere in the 90-100 range by the customer rep where the calculator says I should be 480th. The customer rep gave me a more accurate estimate showing they will have something we can manually use.

On top of this they said they will have a hub of information related to all 3080 and 3090 updates on stock and such on their landing page rather than using the forums so we would soon look to there for information.

Also they told me definitively that it was the time order was placed that landed you in the queue, and said had it been by when payment was fully processed, I'd be in the 300s, but since it's by order placed, I'm sub 100.

I ordered at 2:47 on the 17th (from a competitor), and they are due some zotacs this week. I asked if I'd be getting my card in this batch as it'd be the third lot going out, but the answer was "based on when you ordered, probably not" so clearly there's still plenty of backlog and/or inbound card batches are still very small.

I just saw in their latest news update that they compared their pre order system to buying a concert ticket, and that by allowing pre orders with payment up front this gives them more leverage over suppliers.

I completely disagree as can you imagine the uproar if an event organiser sold thousands of tickets to a Taylor Swift gig before they have even spoke to Taylor Swift, then used those ticket sales as leverage to try and book Taylor Swift.

Ridiculous imo.

Hey guys, just joined the forum to check something - is it 100% confirmed that people will be able to jump across to whatever is in stock and reserve their previous queue place?

If that's the case I might cancel my preorder - tried to buy between 2 & 3pm but the site was down for me the whole time.

Ended up doing a preorder after 9pm when the kids were in bed, I was happy to wait, but if I'm not even going to hold my cr*p position for an ASUS TUF, I might as well throw in the towel and wait for a reference card.

Whats others thoughts? Anyone else in a similar situation?

So customer service can give out queue numbers now if asked?

@GIGA-Man

Any update on impending shipments to OCUK? You mentioned two weekly, any idea of how much of the outstanding orders that will be fulfilled from the next shipment, i.e customers that bought on launch day?

Many thanks

Wow that's actually some really good information. Gives me some hope at least! Thanks for sharing

Great and so it should be by time not when payment cleared. This gives me good hope of getting my card soon...

Yeah that was bad idea to put this information on here. They will get swarmed by calles and web notes and we will wait 5 weeks for official queue system

I mean the team answering the calls is not the same as the team developing the queue query system. So call away I guess.

What card and what time was your order? Fingers crossed not 2:02pm :D
