So is october the date they release this NV killer or just to let people know when they will release them?
I see Uncle Jensen's spiel has worked on you. Yes, "flagship" can also mean "most important" to a company or organisation, but show me a flagship that isn't the biggest, baddest, fastest, most powerful in the real world. It's a rarity. It's also funny how the 2080 Ti, 1080 Ti, 980 Ti and all the other top SKUs were the "flagship", but suddenly that's not the case with Ampere.'flagship' doesnt have to be the fastest card. Flagship can mean many things, fastest, biggest, highest profile ect.

This is an integral part of the bigger story.I have a different theory. Me thinks Jensen got spooked by rDNA2. His original plan would have been a rtx 3080ti binned at approx 9000+ shader, a different core for the 3080 and no 3090 just the titan..
So I would say that the 3080 is pretty close to the ti variant but binned slightly more aggressively. The ti suffix has been purposely avoided because product mgmt wants to ensure that buyer expectations are maintained.. if you'd be selling the ti at 699 this gen, then Nvidia has a task cut out to convince buyers that future tis deserve the 999 tag.
And a 1660Ti was worlds better than the 2080 Ti's pricing, but that means nothing since we're talking about SKU-for-SKU comparisons. If you're hinging some kind of value argument on the 2nd tier SKU costing less than the top tier SKU then you're going to fall flat on your face.
It is literally this simple:
Top RTX Geforce SKU for Turing: 2080 Ti, £1,200+
Top RTX Geforece SKU for Ampere: 3090, £1,400+
Nvidia have successfully raised the price again.
2nd RTX Geforce SKU for Turing: 2080, £700
2nd RTX Geforece SKU for Ampere: 3080, £700 (lol OK)
Nvidia have held price, but that price is a carefully crafted lie. You cannot buy, nor will you realistically ever buy, a 3080 for less than £800, and those prices are set to increase again once Nvidia rescind their (alleged) initial AIB discount. So, Nvidia have successfully raised the price again, and this time actually managed to spin desire and hype into the mix to get people interested and get sales. A not-insignificant price increase and significantly bigger customer interest? Shareholders will be very happy indeed.
I genuinely don't know how you don't see this. It is clear as day, beyond obvious.
Prices went up last week I think maybe due to shortages (supply/demand), capacitor re-tooling or air freight shipments
One competitor had the TUF on sale at MSRP (you couldn't order it), and then a day later listed it as discontinued... a 3080 discontinued you couldn't make this stuff up![]()

It sounds like your pricing beef is with a retailer, not Nvidia.
Except the 3080 replaces the 2080. The 3090 replaces the 2080Ti so it's more expensive.
Except all this was entirely predicted and predictable Nvidia discounted the cards to the AIB's during september, that subsidy ends in october, and who gets the blame? The AIB's and the retailers of course Nividia just quietly walks away and pockets the extra cash. Ultimate Play indeed.

Lol. The name game.
I decide what replaces what for *my PC*.

Nada thats why we have this deluge of Nvidia talk and bickering in this thread todayAny juicy leaks today?
the term 'flagship' may be subjective but i think it is safe to say in the context of gpu's at least the vast majority of people will and have connected that term with the fastest and you saying it's not will not change that fact..Are we ignoring the titans then? Or doesn't that count for some reason?
What has nvidia got to do with the meaning of the word anyway? You seem kind of desperate to suggest nvidia are hoodwinking everyone, me included. But what exactly have I fallen for, for suggesting flagship doesn't have to mean fastest?
The only think I read was that some of the bios specs were leaked and its set to beat the 3080 handily. *RumorAny juicy leaks today?
No, its objective. Nvidia have said the 3080 Is the flagship. So that's what it is. No subjectivity, no room for misinterpretation. You saying anything to the contrary won't change the fact you're wrong. Like LePhuronn just demonstrated by calling the 980ti and 1080ti flagships, completely ignoring the titans of the era, flagship doesn't have to mean fastest and in nvidia case nothing has changed in that respect.the term 'flagship' may be subjective but i think it is safe to say in the context of gpu's at least the vast majority of people will and have connected that term with the fastest and you saying it's not will not change that fact..
