RTX 3070-NVIDIA quietly changes the launch date to October 29th

This new date will at least give potential buyers some time to evaluate their choices after the upcoming AMD launch.

Scenario: AMD announce new cards, have no stock in the short term but 3070 is available the day after with comparable performance. Good move by Nvidia?

AMD moving their Oct 28 announcement forward by 2 weeks to capitalise on the 3070 delay would be great :D

2 weeks will probably make a massive difference to the 3070 launch as large shipments should be in place then rather than air freight. It wouldn't have done anything with the 3080 as it was two weeks yesterday and stock still sold out within seconds.

Even if there's stock on the 29th, you'd have to be mental to be a day 1 buyer after the last launch.

I'd even extend that to AMD's launch too. Waited this long for both architectures, a few more weeks won't hurt.

Are we calling it a launch? Shouldn't we just say a reveal?

I hope AMD knocks this one out of the park. I have my 30 card on order since 17th and im getting a bit salty. I was R7 last gen due to space invaders, decided to switch sides and so far its been a complete circus of a launch.

So I hear it would be good as 3070 buyers are more likely to be able to get stock if they are planning to have more ready for launch... What about the opposite though.. where Nvidia actually want people to spend more on 3080/3090 when not necessary so have a longer window of those being the only "available" cards to buy.

i am giving up buying new cards. I am just going to marvel at the benchmarks instead . It is a lot easier to do then trying to buy vaporware. :D

I assume to make sure that there isn't a repeat of the issues had with the 3080, both with stock and then the crashing problems

prolly still gonna go out of stock within 2mins but a good start at least.
also buys them more time to produce them following the holiday in manufacturing company countries, which seems to be an issue.
dunno who picked these release dates in the first place, but seems like it was a massive **** up.

When AMD are done with all their new kit demos we will see a November and December overload of product for sale. I just hope the box shifters Web shops and warehouse's are geared up for it and especially Overclockers :p

Looks slower in the games game apart from doom and rtx on titles, I think we will find it will be slower in the majority of normal rasterized games.

They've realised they need to make a new BIOS/firmware and unlock more features of the card to hit the performance they are promising. ;)
