NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

It's been some years since me and my ex broke up but even never making it to marriage, even dropping £20 on something "not essential" would result in some choice words. I don't even want to imagine how she'd have reacted to my dropping £1850 in one purchase
Sounds like an abusive relationship to me.

Other way round it would be classed as for sure.

My girlfriend (who doesn't live with me) questioned why I purchase one of these GPU's for the price they are....I just told her.

"Until you make more money then me then I will listen to you about what I spend my money on, until then you don't have a voice in this." Her response......"Ok, fair enough"

OK, George Warleggan.

Guess that's why she don't live with 'ee. And Ross Poldark 'hangs out the back of 'er, when you aint there.

NVIDIA shares official GeForce RTX 3070 performance figures https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-shares-official-geforce-rtx-3070-performance-figures

According to official figures it's basically around 10% faster overall, with RTX on, than a 2080Ti. For £500.

However, I do not trust that this is the full picture as Nvidia will undoubtedly have cherry-picked the benchmarks to get to that 10%. With RTX off and with a more varied set of tests, I am expecting overall a bit less performance than a 2080TI, especially an overclocked 2080Ti.

A French review site has put out a mini review for the Strix 3090.

Its a beast of a card, they've manage to take a top 10 port royal score with just stock cooling while all other top 10 spots are using ln2, dry ice, iced water, portable AC.

Especially since a few of those benches are ever so slightly below the 2080ti. So 10-15% worse performance on average.

That's impressive tbh

I think to avoid any misunderstandings that you need to click the link and read the numbers in the table. It's 108% relative to the 2080Ti.

Your girlfriend probably won't ever live with you if you keep talking to her like that...good plan if meant

Funny thing is, she came to me last night with the idea of us moving into together :D

So on the flip side do you always question her purchasing decisions because she earns less than you?

Thats the point, no I do not. I would never question what she spends her money on, as its her money and non of my business.

I thought the 3070 looked a bit out of place at £500. The 3070 is 8gb 20tf Vs the 3080 with 10gb 30tf. Looking at the numbers seems worth paying that bit more for the 3080.

Or if your on a budget then the 3060ti looks like the one to go for. Looking at them numbers it's only a slight cut on a 3070.

This card is meant to get us Pascal users to change.
And NV have done a good job.

So not for any Polaris users then?..

Yeah this is a strange card if the 60Ti is in the works.

I agree... the 3070 at £500 doesn't seem so appealing.

It looks distinctly like the 3070 is actually going to be just slightly faster than a 2080 Super, unless you happen to have a game that supports both DLSS and RTX, then it will be more like a 2080 Ti + a bit extra.

The pricing seems to be somewhat optimistic as well, at £550 is going to end up the price for most AIB cards, other than the non-premium brands.

Yeah that sounds likely. Of course we dont know how long the Ti/Super flavours will take to be able to buy, but if there is delays and everyone is scrambling for them like the 3080s you could see the situation where a 3060Ti is in stock as people have only just started to use a 3070.. madness.
