Is the 5000 series out yet?
Yeah of course, it's out. Received mine yesterday... crazy fast yoooooooooooooo!

The worst thing about these forums is they don't put a summary sticky at the top, we all have to wade through pages of crap.

No, the worst thing about forums is that people ask stilly questions without doing 5 seconds of basic research. :p

Make of this what you will...

Spotted by @9550pro on Tieba Baidu, the Ryzen 9 5900X CPU-Z benchmark screenshot shows us that this processor scored 652.8 in the single-core test, and 9481.8 in the multi-core test. In comparison with the Ryzen 7 3700X, which scored 511 in the single-core benchmark and 5433 in the multi-core benchmark, there’s a performance difference of 27.7% in single-core and 74,5% in multi-core.

Which model did you go for, Richdog? I went for the 5925.2X. Brand new SKU, but very limited supply atm. Can't believe I managed to pick one up. 6.9Ghz all core boost. 31.5c/63t. It's a real beauty.

No it didn't. Good score with CB R20 by the way. Looking at your CB R20 post, i would say that it's actually a bit lower than it should be and i'm shure you could do better. At 4.5Ghz all core clock, you should have been able to beat mine easily in multicore. But even your single core at 521 is lower than my 537 (which i have never submitted).
I wouldn't worry too much about jumping on a 5950x straight away. Get the best out of your 3950x first because i'm shure it can and will do better.
Ok thanks will take my time anyway prob won't be able to afford it straight away. CB is just after running CTR no extra tuning and the single thread suffers with a manual overclock doesn't it. Stock it's 538. Sure it can do more but I've no interest in tweaking RAM and IF and what not. I won't be running the system like that anyway either, all the fans and AIO pump were on 100% and I like the system quiet. So your safe for now :)

LOL dude... this is classic FOMO PC upgrading. :D
FOMO, nah. I have a workload that will benefit from the higher IPC and all core clocks. Any gain is welcome and the system will be lasting me many years, won't be jumping on AM5 straight away.. been on this 4790K for 6 years.

Really good to see AMD pushing ahead despit them not needing to at the moment. Hope the leaks are true.

I'm really hoping there's plenty of stock for this launch.

I gave up on the 3900X orginally because I couldn't get it and motherboard for ages.

On the brightside, a 5900X would be a league ahead of my 5820K.

They should compare it with the Ryzen 9 3900X, another 12-core CPU which a Ryzen 9 5900X will succeed, not with the lower tier, lower core count and lower priced 8-core model.

I am not sure what exactly the comparison's intentions are.

I was thinking the same. I’m really tempted just to get a 3950x as they are in stock. Building a first time PC so I have nothing else. I’ve gone through the ‘F5’ olympics to get a 3090, I don’t fancy the same again for 5000 series Ryzen!

For the benefit of any other people who didn't click the link, that comparison was in fact done:
Comparing to the results of the overclocked Ryzen 9 3900X, which scored 554.9 and 9064.8 in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively, there’s a 17% performance improvement in the single-core workload, and 4.6% performance improvement in multi-core workloads. With the Ryzen 9 3900X at stock clocks, these improvements increase to about 25% in single-core and 15-16% in multi-core. It seems that the rumoured single-core optimisations are making the difference here.

Just watching "Vampire vs the Bronx" on Netflix. They just showed a laptop being opened and yup... Intel inside sticker on it. Now just imagine how many millions of people are going to see that.
Its the same with mates in companies and academia,Dell seems to be far more Intel orientated. Even with some of the HEDT workstations its the same.

Agreed we need both companies to push each other,as we in the end the customer will win.

Look what competition does for us. More cores, overall cheaper prices. Intel being forced to online performance where they sand bagged for years, all at lower cost.

Very exciting times again. Well done AMD. They truly don't seem to be resting on their laurels either. Constant decent improvement.

As consumers, we win no matter which company we buy from now.

Seems like the board prices are coming down now as well, steady reductions on B550's and B450's, so X570's, might be some people getting big upgrades, and big bargains at the same time. :)
