Another article citing a source that has no history of verified leaks, has history of only 2 leaks, 1 of which came from NAAF, the other being the sk hynix leak shot down by SK hynix themselves.

The state of tech news websites today is shocking. Even videocardz won't touch this, nor the coretechs mspaint die shot. Says enough really

Problem is so often they are saying (in amongst other articles) what people want to hear so too many fasten on to it as likely/fact :( I find it curious how a fair few here repeatedly champion certain YT channels who got "leaked" information on Ampere and other stuff completely wrong.
 
Hold up on this infinity cache on rdna 2 for a second. That patent request is for 9-29-2020. Only a few weeks before RDNA 2's release. I've not known AMD to file a patent this late in the product cycle. While in production of the product...within weeks of an announcement. Not saying it's impossible.

Furthermore, I've heard infinity cache used in regards to amd's heterogeneous computing via chiplets.

I'm not saying it's not possible to be used on the gpu. However, 128mb seems really low to me and there is no multi chipsets solution until RDNA 3. This has me a bit skeptical this infinity cache is just a gpu alternative for a higher bit bus for RDNA 2.

But we will see in a few weeks. If so, wonderful but I won't hold my breath.

Thats not the patent that is linked a few posts back it is the trademark. I had a post somewhere in this thread that linked to the patent and from memory it was filed early last year.

Infinity Fabric? is the name AMD gave to its 2.5D stacking technology many years ago, in this case it allowed the GPU and CPU to share the same memory pool effectively making the CPU and GPU the same thing.

CPU's are very good with serial execution, GPU are very good with Parallel execution, by mashing the two together you get the best of both worlds and greatly increase performance. AMD call this technology Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA)

It brilliant technology but unfortunately it requires developer support and Intel setting the trend for that won't have it, or at least they did.... Intel's dominance is changing.

IF, or Infinity Fabric is still in all new Ryzen CPU's, only now its used to connect chiplet modules together.

AMD are still pursuing this technology, it is the future weather Intel like it or not.

Wonder what all the guys that like to say so confidently Paul makes it all up think of that then...

Obviously not confirmed that it is exactly what he said it is yet but that seems like a pretty strong suggestion that at least some of his sources are genuine.
