Here is a review of 765G (from the Nord) vs the SD8** over the last few years: https://www.androidcentral.com/snapdragon-765g-tested-oneplus-nord-motorola-edge
Based on the synthetic benchmarks, in day to day usage it would appear to fall between an 845 and 855 whilst for gaming it would be closer to the 835.
For me, coming from a OP5T, the increase in day to day performance is what I am after. I am fairly certain the only game I have ever played on my phone is Chess which is hardly intensive.

As said, plenty of power for general stuff and a much more efficient chip. The 4a has some of the best battery life I've seen for a while and from only 3,140 mAh... I feel like the Pixel 5 might last for ever!
Pixel ticks all the boxes, finger print scanner, great camera, clean android, 6inch and 4000mah battery.
