*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

There was atleast two types of card shipped today, with no communication that they would even arrive or have even arrived other than peoples shipping emails.

Thats a lack of communication on OC side, nothing more, nothing less and its imposible to defend really. Its hard for people to be patient in a queue when they arn't updated when stock actually does come in.

So without communication, you still know about the cards being shipped. That's the point of this thread.

It's very easy to defend. You preordered a graphics card. Daily or hourly updates which some people here are rabidly demanding are not a basic human right and you were never promised them. Some people think they are entitled to more than sitting in a queue and being updated on their queue position occasionally.

I don't find it hard to be patient but I'm not a self entitled child and understand that I'm free to cancel my order at any time if I get bored of waiting.

I don’t think they are allowed to say numbers, I think that was said a while back. I think that’s some BS from further up the 3080 food chain.

I think a problem for this also, is people see the forum as CS outlet, but it really isn’t and never has been, it’s community which then has a hint of company or product information.

I agree that maybe having more members of staff on here, rather than leaving it to the mods might be a good idea. But maybe with the level of enquires through other means, or staffing levels, or even COVID, it isn’t possible.

Any way, this is a digression.

Personally I've said before, and thought for a while, they just need one staff member to do two to three posts a week with a summary of where things are, would just need:
  • As already stated by Gibbo small numbers of cards x, y and z were sent out
  • We are hoping to recieve some of a, b and c in near future
  • We are still waiting on the q and u mentioned in the previous update
  • We are chasing our suppliers on all other cards and hope to have more info for you all soon
Bulk each point out to a couple of sentences, and it goes from people feeling like they are being ignored to feeling like we are in the loop. Barely anymore info than we are getting now, but it manages people's expectations. Ideally they'd spend half an hour responding to immediate questions after or something, but they wouldnn't even really need to do that, just a more fleshed out (but still actually fairly info starved) update a couple of times a week would do wonders.

It'd take less than 5 minutes for someone to pop in and say "No news, sorry" or "We're getting an amount of X, Y and Z tomorrow".
The Old Guard on this forum sure are blindly defending the store, innit?
I’m not defending the store. I would speak in the same way about a competitor, I’m personally not an exclusive shopper.

The newbies sure not able to accept that if you don’t hear, there isn’t an update. They sure are blind in their “needy baby greedy baby” “innit”

(OCUK 4kyf, ain’t gon shop no where else)

I’m still within consumer law then as the card I ordered hasn’t technically been released yet.
uuuuh what? I hope that's an attempt at humor?

I agree, i think this would go a long way to easing some of the frustration. It's not difficult to do things like this, they're choosing to not.

May I suggest a bit of Carl Jung. Always belittling folk is a sure sign. Growth can be difficult but its the first step that matters.

I can prob see a ban coming my after me rant, how would that be a punishment?? Get band from a forum I only signed upto for "regular" updates of my preorder...and dont get updates?

Enuf said, I really hope for everyone sake the cards come in a decent quantity and twice weekly and by Xmas everyone happy. Heres for hoping.

Or Carl Sagan. The feeling of assuredness in the inevitability of the eventual heat-death of the universe is chastening. Kind of like a cosy, warm blanket on a cold winter's evening, but where that blanket will eventually take all your stuff then suffocate you.

Having won the prize for having the highest queue number (1972 for an Asus TUF non OC) or any card queue for that matter. I have just cancelled my "order".

Frankly I'm very disappointed by the whole experience with doing business with Overclockers and will not be putting any further business their way.

I wish everyone a speedy and satisfactory conclusion to their own transaction with Overclockers and that you all get your cards soon.
