*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I don't get why it's so hard for OcUK to copy what "one of their competitors" has done and show us when they are expecting deliveries to arrive for each brand, take it a step further and show us for each model as well.

This is going to be the last time I'm using OcUK quite frankly. I always preferred them to the competitors but the way they are handling the communications regarding this is terrible.

The problem is with notifying users of delivery dates/numbers, it puts them at a disadvantage with their competitors. If people know there is no stock inbound or the numbers expected, people will jump ship.
So it is better for OCUK to keep quiet on deliveries, keep everybody in the dark and allow the cash to keep rolling in with pre-orders? queue orders? Back orders? Virtual orders? (one of them is correct)
Personally, they should absolutely stop sales and be a little more upfront.

Just cancelled my 3080 TUF OC due to lack of communication from OCUK. I'll wait for 20Gb version instead.
Thats what I did. My theory Nvidia is holding back cards for AMD launch, if they sell cards out now they will not be able to compete with AMD as they will have no stock. I know its out there theory but thats what I think :D

Just got my Asus 3080 TUF OC now. Can't believe how big it is compared to my old 1060....

Queue position update:

You are currently in queue position 7. Please keep checking your emails, we will send an update after each shipment with your new position. (3080 TUF OC)

For reference, last week was 14

Not to be a pedant, but it's the claims that these are "pre-orders" which is pretty misleading and sits uncomfortably with me. Looked up two definitions (bored):
  1. place an order for (an item) before it is available for purchase.
  2. A pre-order is an order placed for an item that has not yet been released.
The item is available for purchase, it's just not in stock. Sony and MS recently opened up pre-orders for their consoles and they did something really odd, once they had fulfilled the pre-orders against the available stock, they stopped accepting any more. How novel.

Unfortunately, having a relatively good queue position and there being no quicker alternatives for purchasing elsewhere, they've got me (and others) by the jaffas.

No, when I called they told me that they can't tell me my queue position because what "the system shows them" is not accurate and that it would be far more accurate to wait for the email. They said I will get it "by the end of the week", because the updates will be weekly and if I was skipped in one update I just need to wait for the following one.

Which clashes a lot with what Gibbo said, but hey, is it the first time that CS and Gibbo say different things?

Yes that sounds familiar, that's exactly what they told me the first time I contacted them. Problem is, if we didn't get an email 1st time, it is likely that we won't get an email 2nd time and is likely that we aren't on that list. They haven't even looked at whether the data went over to the order database and are refusing to do so. I can tolerate mistakes, they happen sometimes. I am not so tolerant of when a mistake happens and a company does not even try to rectify it. Shabby and then some!

So, last week I was #44. We know 8 TUF OCs went out yesterday. So why, pray tell, am I 38th in the queue this week?

So along with communication and customer service, it also appears that maths is not one of OCUK's strong points either!
