Excellent video from adoredtv on Nvidia Ampere and reviewers

I for one am not surprised people will actually buy a 3090 despite historic levels of poor value for money and Nvidia rightly expect them to sell in decent numbers.

How many people paid £1200+ for a 2080ti? So Nvidia already know their are people willing to part with silly money. Why not move the goalposts further.

I've watched it already but it's a bit of a waffle and i dont remember most of it. But that said, I think he actually misses the point entirely when he opened with comments from subscribers on a previous video. In that video, a lot of what he talked about cantered around the cost and value of ampere as a generation. Not the 3090 or the 3080 as individual cards, but Ampere itself. And he used the 3090 to do it because, to him, thats the Ampere non-titan flagship. This is why people questioned him on not using the 3080, but then in this video he goes on to talk about why the 3090 isnt a titan rather than addressing why he ignored the 3080 entirely.

Well, the way i see it, that's two different subjects and using the 3090 as the bases of value for the entire Ampere range is disingenuous when the cost price over the 3080 is soo large. So I think the comments from viewers were entirely valid and i think Jim's being a big baby. There's also the way he when off on Linus when Linus's MCM claimed copyright on the Jim's video for reusing a part of Linus's 3090. Jim went straight for the throat without asking and made himself look like a prat doing it.

There is also the call out on how many of the reviewers get payments from the industry in indirect ways, sponsorship etc.

Yes. They get a lot of expensive kit, and selling it on must be quite lucrative.

The 3090 is such bad value and poor performance increase that it should be called out.

It's not bad value if you have the need. Few gamers have that need, but there are other sectors. Worry not: in 4 years you'll be able to buy one for £200 or so.

I have not watched one of his vids for ages. Waffles on and gets things so wrong and like others have said, throws his toys out the pram often. It is a hobby for most of us at the end of the day and the informed like most of us know what they are buying. A 3090 is too rich for my wallet but for those who have/getting one, good stuff I say. Quitting because of reviewers? Pathetic reasoning and good riddance if that is his reasoning.

Now that he is gone, when are you getting back into the YouTube business? :p

This time he has gone in deeper, exposing real flaws of what a fair amount of reviewers have claimed for the 3090, and also how so many people lap it up as gospel.

He even raised the question, are the reviewers dumb or is it deliberate.

He has quit, because he is up against an absolute army of fake reviews and people been influenced by it.

Oh, you have a card sent to you, obviously that is a bribe as you more often gets to keep the card than not.
jays2cents obviously supported by nvidia with various endorsements.
and the list just is big.

if someone has 2 million viewers the companies knows this reach 2 million possible customers also
do the math with nvidias business practice alongside intels

Same guy who prattled on about Samsung 8nm being Nvidia dumbest decision ever, without really having any of the industry insider knowledge to make such claims.

The same guy who claimed (triumphantly) that Nvidia had pulled a master stroke in an earlier video saying it was Samsung 5nm being used for the 30 series

All I know is back from the early 2000s buying top of the line never made financial sense (unless you have a professional use case/too much money).

I'd rather save the £700 and get the 4080 in two years or a new laptop.

Waaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa that's all I heard in that video! What an epic dummy spat out, bye bye!

I think the reason he quit is because of the backlash he got for calling Hardware Unboxed paid shills and faking their results in a rant on Twitter.

He had to delete it all and apologise when he realised he was talking rubbish :P
