**RTX 3070 REVIEW Thread**

Can probably run an undervolt to shave off 50w and still keep 95% of the performance.

The thing is you can do the same with the GTX1080 too(I am a bit lazy). Another problem is the way the FE cooler works,ie,the front fan vents through the card itself, which is going to be problematic with sandwich type mini-ITX cases.

well I tried to go through most of the reviews, but I gave up after about 6 of 'em. Bit of a damp squib really this card imho, still not enough Vram, only "as fast" as a 2080ti and no more, too expensive, questionable DLSS and RT performance. Might as well save your pennies and go for the 3080, oh and it'll devalue s/h 2080ti cards even further, making them (2080ti) an even worse purchase in the first place (though that was their choice)

The VRAM is fine for 1440P and under which is what most of the people targeting this card will be using. At the end of the day it's still 2080ti performance which is better than what Turing offered for the 2070 which was quite a way behind the 1080ti. It's a good card "if" you can get it for MSRP.

This is what I'm thinking I game at 1440p it's fine for me but will wait for dust to settle down first

I could listen to her for hrs :p

Reminded me of Castor Troy then ;)

Amen Brother Castor, Amen.

I don't quite understand the half the price of a 2080ti angle but the card does seem decent.

Once the 30 series came out the 2080ti was no longer worth a grand. No matter what shops might have been trying to sell them for. In my eyes it should be expected for new gen mid range to beat an old gen top range. Kinda how progress works.

Thing is people (inc me) thought this on 3080 announcement/release but 2080tis are still selling really high . I struggle to commit to the idea that the 2080ti market is going to crash now...I feel like the card has some of mythical gamer status that these new cards just don't impact.

You don't need any more information on stock situation beyond the fact they're charging more for some 3070 AIB cards than 3080 rrp. Do you really think that would happen if there was stock? The real question is will Nvidia carry on with their bestbuy arrangement or open their own store to rest of the world web purchases again? If not RRP is irrelevant to everyone except Americans, the retailers in the rest of the world can charge what they like as the built by Nvidia product may as well be vapourware.

At least the cyberpunk delay takes some of the pressure off I suppose.

The only positive thing I've taken from these reviews is that when DLSS gets more into the mainstream there's going to be little point in top end cards anymore, the 3070 is close enough to 100fps at 4k in most DLSS titles that the higher end cards become worthwhile for e-peen and benching only.

Are they even making 2080ti s? I guess not,all left is unsold stock.of course retailers are not going to burn their investment and sell them for half the price specially when there is no stock of the new card to be found.
That doesn’t change the fact that 2080ti is technically obsolete.(starting from 1Pm 29th October)

So if you want 2080Ti levels of performance buy a 3070 basically

Until you run out of VRAM at 4K - yes. Obviously some will tell you 8GB is enough for everything for ever and ever amen. Just think if NV hadn't segmented VRAM and sold the 70 with a proper VRAM allocation of 16GB this wouldn't be the case, but no, they got greedy and gimped it.

The custom cards are always more expensive than the reference ones.
Except this time FE cooler is so good, they will struggle to provide a better solution. So why would you buy a bulkier noisier and more expensive card?

Oh and 8 gb is enough. Even at 4k it is so easy to drop memory usage by reducing textures from ultra to high. Done.
Would be nice to pair 3070 with higher bandwidth gddr6x tho.
