*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Folks... those waiting for the next Trio Xs, has anyone got an update?

OCUK informed me that only 20 were about to arrive at their warehouse. Has anyone received theirs yet?

Sorry to say that the goalposts seem to be moving again since this was originally supposed to be a "large" shipment. I.e. +75 units.

(Just for reference I am 51st in the queue).
Im 23rd and i was really hoping that "large" shipment was definite so i would 100% be getting a card...

The more I think about it - the more I think this is what is happening. They want us to cancel the cards that they were forced to sell (probably at a loss) at the original, lower price.
I have little doubt that anybody in the chain is actually selling at a loss. Any cancellations is lost profit (whether its little or lots its still profit). Cancellations are VERY unlikely to re-order here now OR in the future so there really is no incentive to practice what the tin foil hat wearers are suggesting.
Say they make a fiver profit from every card and they've had 100's of cancellations. Thats 100's of pounds profit going to a competitor. Obviously their margins are much higher (even on the day 1 prices) so no reason for them to push buyers away. They just don't appear to care and the "you can always cancel" is just a catch all and default response for any complaints they may get.
because they have not been competitive at the high end for a long time. Most people wrote them off this time saying they wouldn't even match a 2080Ti
they havn't been previously but amd (and everybody else) expected good things this time around. Everybody has been excited to see what they can do this time. tbh they have exceeded expections from what i've seen but who really knows until they are out in the wild and normal people have them :)

Seriously, what kind of company doesn’t know what stock they are getting? I assume they pay their suppliers for the cards, so they will know how many they have paid for and how many are being shipped. They aren’t going to order 100 and then not be at all surprised when only 20 show up.
I imagine they have terms with suppliers like most retail. Most companies have 30-90 days from date of invoice to pay, presumably, @Gibbo is telling you what is arriving in what quantity when he is sent an invoice detailing what he is going to get. Ordering a million of them still won't change the basics of supply.

I have to disagree on that. They are still taking pre-orders, if say the first hundred or so orders for a card were at £650, but they only had 50 at that price, they will be losing £70 on those cards that they should have sold at £720 - they have never stopped taking pre-orders, if those people cancel, they will not be short of people to take those positions up at the full price (they are chomping at the bit) - they (OCUK) will assume that because of the delays, people will cancel - but I am sure they'd rather the guys who managed to get in at £650 cancel first....

They've already said that they only had a very small number at the original cost - well I was at 93 (at least) for one card - imagine that spread across all of the cards that were at a cheaper price because they couldn't get access to change it.

That's my take on it.

Guessing you've not heard anything then regarding your card?

A few people from the competitor I purchased from have received dispatched e mails today but for the MSI Ventus
Nope i have heard nothing was hoping for the email on friday but never appeared, keep checking the competitor site for updates as it's the only place to get them.

OCUK are bound to be getting the shipments at the same time, just hoping monday we hear more.

We may never know, there is something weird going on. And I for one am done, when they let go of my balls and I get my card, I'm never coming back here or to the shop

I agree, this is the second time I have used overclockers and the experience has been utterly shocking and shambolic I will be taking my buisness elsewhere if I haven't got my 3080 strix by the end of January.

Just got my shipping notificaiton for my 3080 I ordered elsewhere on Friday there. Any Strix OC 3080 fellas queue pos. above 435, you're moving down a place

if i cancel my 3080 Asus Strix OC model and change it to a Zotac extreme 3080 holo, will i be shorter in the que?

I know the strix pre-order que is around 1500+

But the zotac is bound to be a smaller number right?

I didn't receive anything. I'm 16th on the queue. Hopefully I'll receive something positive in the next couple of days.

Yeah I'm hoping we have a better update tomorrow as to what has happened. On the Friday the said they'd sent the shipping e mails out in 24 hours which hasn't happened.

Say the price on web sites has increased. By £70 on those cards. They are not actually losing £70. they just aren't making that extra £70 on the earlier cards. Suppliers won't have increased price like oc did and i'd bet there's still a decent margin in them. OC will have ordered loads at a set price from suppliers.
You're suggesting they have a warehouse full of stock and are waiting for the low numbers to cancel. That's just ridiculous. The price increase on mine was around £50. My eagle had increased by that between launch and me buying an hour later.
Yes they wont struggle to replace people that cancel but who in their right mind is going to come back to oc after they've been peed off enough to cancel from such a low place. People are cancelling by the handful and i doubt a lot will return.
OC are not stupid and they risk more long term damage with what you're suggesting. Still you're entitled to your thoughts and theories. If what you suggest was true then why havn't oc increased their pricing in line with competitors who presumably would have been in exactly the same position? - As pretty much the only place still offering a place in a queue they could quite easily ask for another £100 and offset any potential losses and people would still buy :)

I pre ordered the zotac holo 7 days ago and as of friday i am position 36.

3080 TUF non OC Queue Progression. No deliveries so 347 cancellations in 2 weeks.
I do not want to cancel as I got this card at Asus SRP for this model.

30-OCt = 1038
23-Oct = 1155
14-Oct = 1230
02-Oct = 1385

yes you are right

that’s mean

1st almost same performerance
2nd cheaper
3rd more memory 10/16gb
4th hardware raytracing no software
5th and most important probably will be available not like all this 3000series mistake
6th lower power consumption
7th not required 3x PCIe connector for some cards

too many points agains nvidia they done this rush because they know all this and will kick them in the ass and now we end up without cards and they blame pandemic etc but isn’t that that was rush to not lose people because if they will announce card after amd no that many people will be happy to buy them card

+ Usb-c
+ Synergy with Zen 3, that a lot of us will be getting anyway.
