Microsoft really screwed up their Xbox series launch byt not having a Forza or Halo game ready at the same time. I've seen posters/billboards up around the city centre advertising halo infinite tie in products so it's very clear the intention was to have it ready.

Whereas Sony have both Demon's Souls and Spiderman MM at launch.

It’s not ideal, but they can’t help it if there is a pandemic and hopefully it means the games will be even better. Personally I have plenty of upgraded X games that’ll keep me busy along with Valhalla and then Cyberpunk. The only PS exclusive that interests me is Horizon Dawn, but then the ES and Fallout exclusives will outweigh that.

Probably. How long off are they ? 3-4 years ?

Well we only know there is a new elder scrolls. After fallout 4 I'd be very hesitant to buy a new one either so hopefully it comes out before my 3yr of gamepass runs out.

Forgot about Forza H actually, might play that next week, it's a shame it has so much content locked behind micro transactions though, pretty poor.

I think it's going to be hard to go back to a normal controller too after using the haptics on ps5. So may as well get a few days out the Xbox before it becomes an ornament. I'm not entirely sure why I bought it.

I just hope it gets adopted unlike the track pad thing, audio and light did on the DS4. I remember GTA playing the police radio and the flashing lights which was cool but never really saw it utilised that much.

HD rumble on Switch was cool but hardly anyone seems to have developed for it, including Nintendo.

@Noxia you should just sell it, and use the money towards some games for the ps5 or something ?

Yes that's crossed my mind. I'll leave it boxed for a week whilst I make up my mind I guess.

@KraniX I suspect it will be even in a basic way on most games. I didnt even realise the switch had an HD rumble whatever that was and I owned one for two years which goes with that you said.

I'll buy an Xbox series at some point in future but the lack of ms exclusives made it very easy to decide which next gen machine to buy day one.

The haptics could be as simple as an extra audio track which is outputted via the haptic voice coil actuators, after all they're essentially speaker coils, with a left and right channel.

Watching the DF review Richard records the haptics by resting the controller on a hard surface allowing the vibrations to transmit into a mic, and what we 'hear' and he feels through the controller basically sounds like in game sound.

If that's the case, then asking devs to add an extra audio track with a reduced number of sounds isn't a huge ask!

The triggers, of course, are a different matter but they seem to have a lot more potential in gameplay so can see them being used a lot.

Just been reading about the nvme port being disabled at launch until a time in the future, looks like they are having to do more validation on 3rd party nvme drives which sucks.

The launch date has been known internally I am sure, so why have they not got the testing done yet? Wonder if their magic IO chip is causing issues with 3rd party nvme drives

It's not really a huge issue though, very few people will be looking to immediately spend £200+ on additional storage this early.

Agreed, I don't think it really makes sense to upgrade the storage until it becomes substantially cheaper. Prices should fall quickly when there are umpteen million Playstation owners looking to buy the nvme drives in future.

Just got a text message from argos saying:

Good news - Your pre-order for ****** for item is on its way. dpd uk will deliver as early as the official release date to track your order...

Hmm seems a bit early to get a message like that :o
Weird, I haven't had any communication from Argos and I'm sure I would have been one of the first to pre-order, they took payment straight away too. I checked on the website and it says order in progress. Maybe it's because I ordered the digital edition and they don't have any stock.

TV wise what’s everyone gone for? Or be using?
I’ve got a 1080p so need to upgrade ideally, seen a few people mention the CX OLED or the Nano.

2.1 120hz worth getting right now? Suppose it would future proof for when the ps5 does hit that.

Any other recommendations that maybe won’t be as expensive as the CX range? Any suggestions for full 4K monitor?

It wasn’t a problem with the Switch so I doubt going back from the PS5 controller will be a big hullabaloo.

Going back to FPS games that don’t use motion controls is painful though, both on the PS4 and XBox One. The insane amount of auto aim they have to add to compensate for the lack of control makes you feel like the game is playing itself.

I hope that all PS5 FPS games support it, and it’s idiotic that Microsoft still don’t have motion controls.
