i have a set of 8pack edition 3200 2 x 8gb cl14 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html

using thaiphoon burner it states these are "
Organization
1024M x64 (1 rank)"

hence it appears that when I get my 5900X that I should raid my wifes computer and get her set of 8pack edition 3200 2 x 8gb. then I will have four single ranked sticks (and 32gb to boot).

Is this correct?

(I recently bought two sets of 2 x 16gb team group vulcan z t-force 3200 cl16 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-grey-my-0aj-tg.html. I may try putting these in my system and see if they are single or dual ranked - but from the article it appears that they will be dual ranked and so only worth using one set per pc - )

If they're b-die they'll be dual ranked for 16gb.

I have just tried to check that I am using Thaiphoon Burner currently to read the SPD of the memory chips and my 8gb sticks (2 of them) for the 8 Pack edition samsung B die https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html and I do believe that each stick is a single rank - being quoted as "Organization 1024M x64 (1 rank)" - and I believe that I am reading them correctly and that my 16gb kit is in fact single rank sticks. Therefore when my 5900X comes I am hopefully that I can whack another set of two sticks in there to get this performance uplift as stated by gamersnexus.

I just bought two sets (for my son and daughter) of Vulcan z 32gb kit 3200 (ie. two sticks of 16gb) https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-grey-my-0aj-tg.html- and according to Thaiphoon burner each 16gb stick is also 16 rank ie. Organization 2048M x64 (1 rank)
I have done some quick benchmarks on my ryzen 5 3600XT stock, EKWB cooling, red devil rx5700XT at 1440 using the: 16gb (2 sticks) 8 Pack cl14 3200; one set of 32GB Vulcan Z cl16 3200 (2 sticks); and two sets vulcan Z (4 sticks) = 64gb

quick bench results:
16gb 8 Pack edition (2sticks of single rank) : 32gb Vulcan Z (2 sticks of single rank) : 64gb Vulcan z (4 sticks of single rank)
warhammer 2 battle bench = 92.5 FPS : 92.4 FPS : 92.2 FPS
warhammer 2 campaign bench = 94.5 FPS : 94.3 FPS : 94.3 FPS
warhammer 2 skaven bench = 104.8 FPS : 104.4 FPS : 105.3 FPS
company of heroes 2 performance test = 56.99 FPS : 56.67 FPS : 56.62 FPS
passmark cpu = 19003 : 19347 : 19337
passmark 2D = 1017 : 947 : 1006
passmark 3D = 16311 : 14903 : 16373
passmark memory = 3206 : 3359 : 3472
passmark disk = 22725 : 19648 : 19603
passmark overall = 7463 : 7257 : 7558

the 32gb vulcan Z cl16 was cheaper than my 16gb 8 pack cl14 (both 3200) and yet these benches are very similar.

I intend to update this once my sons 5900X arrives (i will temporarily borrow it just to bench).

Sorry thought you had the 32gb kit. Yeah the 8gb sticks are single rank. I think it was only 16gb b-die sticks that were dual rank.

nice then. once i finally get a 5900X next year (no rush for me as 3600XT is very good = its just that this may be the last cpu I can put in my X570 - unless they decide to do a 5900XT sometime down the line) - then I could get my wifes ram sticks (8 pack edition like mine). unfortunately my wife doesnt like me messing with our computers and has this mind set that once you have built it thats it!

Building my first PC and pre ordered a 5600X last week.... Its the last bit I need so hoping the stock comes in soon.

Are the pre order queue emails being sent weekly or just when stock lands??

Hi there

Still no update on the big shipments due this week but the following is coming:

5800X - 20pc from official distributor
5950X - 35pc 5950X due from none official and as such they cost us a lot more, but those who pre-ordered prices are always honoured, these are due end of week / next week.
5900X - 85pv from none official distributor and these cost us about £10 more than what we have sold them for, but were happy to lose £10 a CPU to get some customers their orders ASAP.
5800X - There was 50pc none official stock but these were £100 higher than what we sold the stock for and unfortunately we cannot afford to lose £100 per CPU.
5600X - 25pc none official distributor, again we lose on these but its only a few quid so happy to do so.

Our official stock of 300pc 5900X and 100pc each of 5800X and 5600X is still on its way to master distributor ear marked as this Wednesday so all being well will be with us this week and these CPU's do not cost us any additional premium. :)

Are these largely spoken for already? What are the chances for us mere mortals?

Does this mean those that pre-ordered the 5800X have to pay £100 extra? Or does it mean that they will have to wait until cheaper stock arrives that you don't take a loss on?

No it means they managed to buy up another stores none-scalped stock and decided to flip it for a profit. But they couldn't make enough profit on what they scalped over rrp from their official stock prices so they decided to ignore pre-order queues and sell them at an even bigger scalp without even letting the hundreds of people in the pre-order queue know. This is not legal, emailing local trading standards now with screenshots of that post. They should cancel and refund all pre-orders in the queue if they cannot fulfil their pre-orders queue before selling at retail or there should be a visible condition at the point of ordering to say that your pre-order will only be honoured if a certain price can be met.

Nope I did not take them as the supplier was taking the mick, we do not mind losing a few quid, but we cannot afford to lose £100 a CPU, so we skipped those.

We did not take stock and all pre-orders are honoured at price paid even if that means we make a loss.

We have 20pc 5800X due plus another 100pc later this week which are incoming at normal cost to ourselves.

Pretty sure that's not what he's saying. I haven't got one yet but OCUK are being communicative and I don't think they are doing this.
