Out off all your games you are getting with your PS5 which are you going to fire up first once setup etc? Mine AC Valhalla that is if my 6 year old lets me if not Sackboy :)

I think the only game I'll have will be Demon's Soul's as I've had confirmation for my order from GAME but it only comes with an extra controller, my partners order from JD Williams that was supposed to come with COD seems to have disappeared into the ether and has had no update since the initial order.

According to DF Astro has a day one update for the finalised version of the game so you'll be waiting for that to download as well :p
So that's a day 1 update for the PS5, and the controller, then the update for Astro... Probably 1.5GB total. Given that I won't be setting my PS5 up until 6pm or so, and to download either Spiderman Remastered or Miles Morales will take me 6hrs on my connection, looks like I'll be playing a lot of Astro on Thursday!!! :o:D

Looks like Smyths have taken payment (or reserved it). Thank god the bank didn't try stopping it going through. Just the Amazon one for my nephew to go through now.

Getting Demon Souls for my first game, can't wait. Not played any souls game so it'll be a good introduction. Have Last Of Us 2 as well, held off playing it until PS5.

Look forward to hearing everyone's opinions on all the launch games come Friday. :)

Does it show you an estimate of the transfer speed in the UI or can you guess from the changing numbers? On my new series S it is pumping 600MBps, which is my actual line speed as well. The PS4 Pro barely pushes 200MBPs on the same line. Just curious where in between these 2 the PS5 will sit, in terms of speeds! PS3 and PS4 never maximized my connection, although it was always hard to know if it was a throttling/bandwidth restriction from their end, or an artificial limit from the console side.

Not that I can find I'm afraid, would say I'm getting over 500MBps pretty comfortably

How does the ps+ collection work with that PS5 release? I know you can add all games from that collection only on PS5 but is there any timelimit when that offer ends?

I assume it's just part of PS+ so if you have a sub and a PS5 they are just available to you. I've seen nothing about expiry.

Yeah there's no expiry but like the free monthly games you may as well just redeem them, then they're in your library if you even want to download them.

Watched a video yesterday that said the PS+ collection can be played on PS4 too, but you have to redeem the games on a PS5.

Keep them, i love my physical media. Can't be removed or rotated from a service.

I'll probably sell mine as I go if I'm bored of a game. However, I'm not a fan of buying digital content. If you "buy" content in an online store all you're essentially doing is paying for access to a service. You never "own" anything.

To me all these online stores should really move to subscription based models. The idea of paying a one off charge to "buy" digital media you never actually own and have no rights/control over is ridiculous IMO. I'm surprised so many tolerate the concept.

I suspect within a few years all the consoles will move to a game pass subscription service business model. Something essentially like Spotify/Netflix but for gaming. Maybe with higher priced tiers to get early access to the latest games.

The challenge these days is that many games require online access for gameplay/updates/etc so even if you buy the disc the games is still essentially dependent on an online service with servers/etc being available to run it.

When digital was first being pushed they claimed prices would be lower, that's not the case when a game has been out for a while you can usually get it far cheaper physically in a shop because shops want to clear out their inventory. It's more about controlling prices and killing the second hand market, I would say it's anti-consumer.
