OcUK RX6000 series review thread

Ohh stop it now, the reviews are out there now. Clearly for value the 3080 is better, you get much more for your money and RAGE MODE is nothing more than a power slider, so set the power slider up on a 3080.. SAM is coming to Nvidia and all platforms not tied into a 5000 series cpu.

Don't shill for these companies they are all as bad as each other, then wait a few days when stocks appear again and watch the prices .. then tell me which is better value. The Nvidia killers lol..:D:D:D
Tbh we can't say the 3080 represents more value either. Look at the prices of them. It depends on what you want. For 1080p or 1440p, for the money 6800xt is better to me. 4k the 3080 edges it but still not in terms of overall bang for buck. If you have a ryzen 5000 cpu and not interested in Ray Tracing get a 6800xt. If you like Ray Tracing get a 3080.

Nice performance and gives the 3080 a run for the better money overall, so a decent choice for gamers. The prices are still crazy high though for the average gamer but for those who want the best, there is a decent choice now.

3080 slightly edges it but shortages of stock from both will see some massive gouging going on. RT performance is decent and on par with a 2080Ti (where I expected in truth) and I expect over time for AMD to improve with drivers. Nice release AMD and great to see them back fighting :)

That's true but at least there is competition now.

I would have gone for the 6900XT if I didn't have an 3090 but I was one of the lucky people to get one on release and I wanted the best of the best.

What competition?
The prices offered are basically the same with a different sticker.
They're working as a team, rather than competing.

If the 3070 doesn't lower next year and the rx 6800 is cheaper, then I am going AMD, otherwise I will get an Xbox Series X in the new year. I really can't be bothered playing silly games with gpu prices.

Yeah the GPU situation is so daft right now, I need to replace my Vega 56 it's not right and I have tried all the fixes and it's out of warranty now. I don't think I could give up PC gaming mind, but prices are really not great currently (well I think the 3070 FE is pretty awesome but good luck getting one).

RTX 3080 is heavily overclocked out of the box - 303-watt vs 210-watt is no joke - that's 44% higher power limit.
I have said absolutely the same about the RX 5700 XT when it was heavily overclocked and overvolted out of the box.

Thanks God AMD has fixed this.

Hopefully, AMD can deliver heavily overclocked RX 6900 XT with 350-watt power consumption that regains the top spot as the fastest graphics card ever released.

Fair point. past AMD cards have been slated for higher power usage, even when performance has been similar.

200 or 300watts it doesnt bother me in the slighest. However, in a game of top trumps, every aspect is up for grabs and 100watts less is quite a margin.

Yep, I agree. I am waiting to upgrade my my GTX 970 which can play most things okish, but is struggling a lot in newer games and certainly will with games like cyberpunk 2077.

Looking at reviews where they have overclocked the 6800xt it was not that good overclocked, It didnt have a lot left in the overclock, so they must be pegged high much like ryzen 5000 series. The cherry picked cores will be the 6900xt but i wouldn't get my hopes up that they will overclock much either.
AMD have launched with cards that are much better than old and are closing in on Nvidia but i expected more from the 6800xt in raw performance, in RT is poor to nvidia yet its price is much the same.

Gamers dont care about power efficiency they want FPS raw speed and the 6800xt looses to the 3080 even when pegged with a ryzen 5000 cpu

I miss the statistics from AMD driver suite, like hours played, fps, etc.
Now that I switched to nVidia, I do hope they bring something similar in the near future.

Indeed. Though the real performance will come in the future with optimisation with new consoles.

That's never been true and keeps being spread like its a fact, where the facts say the games made on a console no matter what hardware they use never translate the same to PC hardware.

Explain how a PS4 game made for an AMD APU, example:- Horizon Zero Dawn is faster on Nvidia then.. and many more examples that console games doesn't mean it will run better on a pc on a AMD GPU or CPU or a Nvidia GPU or Intel CPU if consoles had them inside.
