no good mach-e utubes yet ? colour combo&white lights good Ford Mustang MACH-E Sneak Peek!!(need mute)
The car looks great but those door handles - what were they thinking !! The interior looks nice and overall quality is up there. Interesting tablet design with a dial sticking out of the bottom of the glass. I'm still finding the price is a touch too high, given the specs and the brand.

This image is a screenshot from the Ford Mach-E website - “Go Electric in any colour”. Yeah, if you like shades of white, black & grey :p

These are the only colour options

They also have red and blue

I dont get the issue what colour do we want? Pink? Yellow?

Grey, black, white, blue, red, silver in that order were the UK most popular colours in 2019, being about 98% of the sales
Grey for example was 521,273 vs the first missing from my list orange (puke) in seventh place at 25,723

It looks like they got the 98% covered ;)

I think it's the fact they advertise "any colour" when in reality there are only 5...

Nothing wrong with orange if it's on the right car :p

The blue is shown in the picture - it’s a grey blue. Also, if the only choices are greys then they will be popular ;):D
  • Black is the only free colour
  • Silver, space white and blue are £800
  • Star white, red and grey are £1.1k

I really think the Mach-E is too expensive, the AWD extended range version starts at £57k and it’s performance & range is nothing special.
  • 6 seconds to 60mph
  • Stated 335 mile range, which is probably more like 260-280 miles in the real world.
  • Weighs 2,218 kg
I would rather buy a Tesla Model Y Performance for about the same price.

edit: ford could have some magic sauce on the handling that makes it a more interesting sporty option than competitors , like Y
(MCCallum in the Johnny interview said give me an fiesta any day.)
The traction control they/F have implemented will be interesting, too, given mid-tier ev's, technology.

So the blue colour option is only available on the 1st Edition (sold out) and the GT (due late 2021). So much for ‘any colour’ :p

It seems to me that the i3 chassis will be much harder to deal with then it comes to its end of life compared to just using steal or aluminium due to the amount of plastic involved. In that regard it may never become common.

It may become a future collectors item for EV/BMW enthusiasts but it’s never going to make one a good buy in 2020. The i8 also has much better potential on that front.

I doubt it on the i8. They are a pretty uninspiring thing to drive. Looks like a supercar but drives like a minivan. I spent a bit of time in one and was not impressed: https://karenable.com/bmw-i8-drive/

That's REALLY sad because there are only three BMW's I've ever really liked the look of to the point I'd want one. The CSL 3.0 "Batmobile", the M1 and the i8. And I can finally almost afford an i8 so to hear it's a bit meh isn't really what I want.

But I've just read the review and to be honest, none of that puts me off. The forecourts are awash with low mileage used i8's so getting attention from the dealership shouldn't be an issue. I've just nearly killed myself in a car that was, frankly, too fast and I doubt I would ever exploit the chassis in the way that it could be so the fact that it's easy to get in and out of, with a nice high seat and with petrol at £6 per gallon, it still sounds like the first BMW that might ever sit in my garage. :)

We don't scrap all cars at 50k miles though do we, most cars get well over 100k so even if we did nothing to improve the manufacture process or how clean the electric we power them with it's still a massive win?

I guess those that care about the environment will drive...um...diesel?

It’s behind a paywall so it’s not clear what it’s referencing or what the source is. For example if they are just using the C02 from the burning of fuel then the calculation is completely wrong.

Every peer reviewed study from reputable sources I have seen put an EV way ahead of an ICE in total impact. It only tends to be the ones funded by the fossil fuel industry that put them close or behind.

But as the above poster said, cars aren’t scrapped at 50k and the main advantage is not having ICE engines spewing out emissions where people are trying to breathe.

For the record, personal transportation is utterly horrific for the environment. EVs are very much the lesser of two evils and will get greener over time as the grid does. ICE just doesn’t and is literally ending the lives of tens of thousands of people early every year due to poor air quality in towns and cities in the UK alone.

Before you buy, see if you can borrow one from a dealer for the weekend. Send a couple of days with it and you will know if its the right car for you.
