OcUK RX6900XT review thread

Gonna stick to getting a 6800xt late next year. Drivers im sure will mature better and there may be a reasonable increase in performance from the 6900xt but then the 6800xt will aswell so the gap still wont be worth it.

So where are these guys now then? When the RX6900XT was first announced saying?!?!?!

"WHOOOAAA!!!! THE RX6900XT IS AN RTX3090 KILLLER AND CHEAPER!!!!!! NVIDIA IS FINISHED!!!!!!FINNNNNIIISSSHHHEDDD!!!!!!"

They seem quiet now?

That RT hit is still pretty bad. Plus pretty meh performance at 4K. They really should've done a HBM2 card at this price point, or at least a 384-bit (if not 512, what happened to those cards? :D) memory interface - at least then it'd be great in 4K raster. But right now it's just fast in all the places where you don't need it. This is a card that is begging for a price cut, not that it'll happen with current levels of supply.

Edit: misread a graph, removed some slightly bad analysis.

So in most games at most resolutions the 3080 is still faster than the 6900XT?

Just shows how good the 3080 is.
Agreed, the 3080 is a great performer whose only potential weakness is the stingy amount of VRAM they gave it. It's in overall performance terms the best buy in the GPU landscape at the moment.

Or more likely it goes to show something is wrong somewhere if the extra performance over the 6800xt isn't coming through.

The 3070 is nowhere near the best option. The best options are a 3060Ti + DLSS if you are on a budget or a 3080 and DLSS if you aren't so much. The 3070 is in no-mans land.
Everyone has their own measure of value. I think the 3070FE at its correct price is pretty decent VFM and probably good enough for a decent stab at the forgotten resolution of 1440UW for most users giving a decent mix of some framerate and some high/ultra settings with a sprinkle of DLSS magic. The price gap between it and a 3080 is crying to be plugged with something (other than overpriced AIB cards), be interesting to see how much RAM that card gets when it comes (and what speed/bus it is given).

It is worth noting after all that both teams have scaled the price on the main offerings directly inline with paper performance so really the only ones that suck are the 3090 and 6900.

Pointless card aimed at amd fan boys and people with more money than sense according to Hardware Unboxed.

That's what he said. What I have to say is as a 5700XT owner i had to stop playing AC Odyssey in 1440p as it was unplayable for me from Rome on-wards. My 1080ti and 2070S suffered the same performance face. I am very much looking forward to re-loading the game up with a 6900XT AIB, the performance looks very tidy indeed - the reference is 50% faster than my 5700XT, the custom 6900XT could be 60-70% faster.

Card looks to be a complete and utter waste of money over the 6800XT.
Yeah, the 6900XT seems like a bit of a dud. It's a shame that AMD didn't make the 6800XT the 6900XT, price it more aggressively and ramp up supply to sell them by the bucketload.

Just lol if you're not factoring the extra e-peen the 6900 gives you.

Just lol for anyone who cares about e-peen. :p

So if you want to play at 4K without RT, the 6900XT is a solid card.

However, the 3090 generally pips it at 4K for most games and if you want RT, discount AMD completely at present.

Now I’ve just got to hope that the 3090FE’s come back into stock this side of 2021.
