Hi so I'm hoping you can help and this is in the right place. I attempted to build my pc about 2 years ago now if that and to be honest it was difficult and not my cup of tea and in the future I think I will get someone who enjoys doing that sort of stuff to do it for me lol. Anyway I have always felt my pc is not running at its optimal and it feels like it is bottlenecking somewhere.

My specs are:
i7 8700k CPU.
Nvodia RTX 2080TI
16 gig of ram.

Now I know it's hard to help me over forums and to be honest all I'm wondering is does anybody know of a reliable custom pc company or repair company that could take a look at my pc and possible see were I have (if I have) gone wrong.

Hey!

By no means an expert here, but I've been assembling my PCs for many years.

It would help if you are more descriptive of the problem. What does not feel right? Crashing? Poor performance?

Your rig is still very powerful (your GPU alone is worth more than my ageing rig :) )

We can't suggest anyone other than OCUK because they are competitors, but if you share more information here, we could help.

I must admit, I know the kind thing you are talking about, you just get that feeling right, and you KNOW something isnt right?

If u live in south uk. Brighton or nier , I can help with your build .

u should try to explain what's bothering u here one forum

Sorry for the late reply guys been super busy over Christmas for which i hope everyone here had an amazing time or at least tried to make the most out of it considering the current situation everyone is in.

Anyway down to business below is an image of my system i hope this helps you guys help me a bit more. The main reason why I'm asking this is because I'm having issue with Cyberpunk 2077 now i know a lot of people have been having issue and i have pretty much gone through all the troubleshooting methods on the internet (that i have found at least) The game runs fine on max settings the lot except when i turn "Raytracing" on after about 5 minutes sometimes 10 the game freezes up and crashes. Now this might not even be an issue with my system as a hole maybe its just the 2080TI because people that i have spoke to who are running Raytracing are using the new 3060 or 3080 graphic cards. Although i did speak to one person who was running a 2060 with no issue.

in short im trying to figure out if its a part of my build that is bottlenecking the capabilities for me to be able to use raytracing with cyberpunk or could it be my graphics card.

I don't use XTU, but 4GB VRAM for the 2080Ti must be reporting badly right? Otherwise, that's one broken card.

Can you run a benchmark and give us the results? Ideally, something like 3dMark as we can then view your system and compare online easily.

A RTX 2060 super should get around 55FPS@1080p on RT medium in CP, the 2080Ti should get around 80 with the same settings.

I have seen an unusual number of RTX 2080Ti's failing to run the game since the latest CP update.
Jayztwocents also noticed it (granted the 2080Ti was flashed with a custom BIOS, but it was working before the update)

You're on the original release BIOS by the looks of it. There have been many updates... Might be worth flashing to a more recent version.

The version you're running is from 2017. It has none of the mitigations for the recently-discovered security issues, amongst other things.
I'd go out on a limb and say this is very likely to be the cause of your issues.

Also, would be willing to help if you're nearby (Bath) although that's some random chance I guess...

Here is the benchmark results using 3DMark NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-8700K Processor,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX Z370-H GAMING (3dmark.com)

How would one go about updating the BIOS. I unfortunately through my last USB stick away because it was broken?

Awesome, now you have a base score, go update drivers (you might have some other motherboard drivers which may need updating) and the BIOS and re-run it.
I've tried to find another score with similar clock speeds as yours (3dmark records actual clock speed, so easier to compare like for like). This is the closest and most recent - https://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/16847043/spy/15464449
The good thing is, your GPU has an average clock speed within 1-2MHz of the other score. This shows that you're not thermal throttling.

I noticed two things:
  1. Your CPU score is consistently lower than most 8700k's, even though your clock speed is on average 100MHz higher (4.5GHz). This will also limit the GPU.
  2. 3dmark has picked up a HDD as your drive. Do you store games/ big applications on the HDD with the SSD as your primary drive?
Once you update the BIOS, you might see a bit of a performance uplift. It might not be 20% worth, but an updated BIOS is always good for security patches.
If you're not confident updating the BIOS, update as much as you can and re-run.
The ASUS tool I think is called EZUpdate. Last time I checked it was pretty robust, but I'm sure someone else can offer more insight. It does as much as it can through the OS and then applies the update during a reboot.

If you're happy to put your location, I'm sure someone will pop up in your area who would help.
