At premium models/x level won't people be going e-tron fastback,
curiously, seems to be heavily advertised on the tv despite its £70K price ... because they need to advertise green credentials

Lucid front end looks horribly bland/unemotional, maybe they are redeemed by some fantastic aerodynamics, but, looks very much like jelly mold design in usa specific brands like accura/oldsmobile....

what do you have to do on the P2 to get the lights to chase, a la kit, around the rear light bar - just saw it in a review

So I tried the free charging the other day, I'm now a member of BP Pulse - Charged FoC in three locations using two 11KW chargers and a 7kw charger. That's pretty epic, at the office today so getting myself a charge to 90%, my driving style is draining the battery though, I'm using about 55kW / 100mi which is insane, probably my lead foot.

conclusion : still a poor user experience of infotainment system. Still lacking android auto and augmented reality.

VW really need to invest in hiring quality software developers but probably already realised the best in silicon Valley already work for Tesla

good review style with two people swapping/comparing cars, don't usually see Thomas/Ag talking about car handling either.

looks like that's common across VAG with new MIB3 audio system, if the native apps cover Tidal that works for me , and, amp+speakers are kosher.

These are like a modern take on the Aixam Microcar. Thankfully that means that even if they do make it over to these shores there will be the occasional old boy in a residential home who owns one to drive less than 200 miles a year.

I imagine they will be pretty dangerous with a 28 mph top speed. Even most mopeds can do 40 flat out which at least makes them usable with other traffic, these things would just be a slow moving chicane anywhere other than gridlocked city centres.
 
Did you watch the video even though you quoted it? Jonny drove it around Coventry, including the ring road, and it looks absolutely fine in that situation. Better than the mini roadsweepers the council use.

I have seen the video. I wouldn't want to drive one where I live lets put it that way. The cars whipping past when he was doing his traffic light GPs pretty much highlighted the problem with it. If it was similar to the Twizzy's speed it would be much more usable.
 
I would imagine that for the vast majority of big city driving, this would be great. I am sure that it could get you somewhere in central London just as quick as a supercharged Range Rover.

I think you’re slightly exaggerating. Other than the A47 by-pass, a few odds and sods of dual-carriageway and the A11 there is nothing over 60MPH in Norfolk and nothing over 40MPH in Norwich as far as I’m aware so this should be just fine. If you were taking about Birmingham or Glasgow where the motorways cut right to and indeed through the heart of the city I could see it but these would be great in Norwich. You can just imagine 14-year olds doing electric donuts on the Prince of Wales Road on a Saturday night.

Let’s also be real, it’s just a car for pottering about town in, there shouldn’t really be any reason to take it on the A47 or A11.

Compared to a G-wiz, this thing looks great although I’m not sure I would want to take it on the north circular. Fortunately there are other roads you can use ;)
 
It has one massive advantage over a Twizzy though - proper protection from the weather and it is car sized (just about), so less likely to be 'bullied' by other road users.
 
Ok, just me who wouldn't want to drive 12mph under the speed limit (and about 17mph under the flow of traffic) in a golf buggy then :p

To be fair, I did say I could see the use in a city centre. Taking Norwich as an example though I wouldn't want to take it beyond the outer ring road which limits its use to effectively a circle with a 3 mile diameter. That may be of use to some people but I'd rather just cycle within that sort of distance.

If there were banks of these around the city so you can hire one for a couple of quid to save yourself a bit of a walk then, yeah, sounds like a good idea. I just can't see many people wanting to own one which to be fair is a point raised in the video (or it might have been the fully charged one I watched) where the main use for these is likely to be ad-hoc hire.

Oh I don't know. At the right time of day the North Circular would be lucky to average 20mph never mind 28mph and there is a little devil in me that would want to drive down the A11 at 28mph holding up tractors :) See how YOU like it Mr/Ms Tractor Driver!

They have put together an impressive team but no idea what their funding looks like and they will burn through a huge pile of cash before profitability is even a distant light on the horizon. Also don't know what their real point of difference is, similar claims to every other player in the space.

I recently did a blog on the ICE-Hybrid-EV transition. I dont think petrol is going away anytime soon.

Apparently Lucid are funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. To the tune of $1 billion. I doubt they got all that money in one hit but it would imply that their pockets won’t run out for at least a little while. And if the cars sell in any kind of numbers an IPO could see that again much raised and more.

As for the whole ICE-Hybrid-EV transition, it’s supposedly happening in the UK in 2030. But it could get delayed. I rather doubt it though as the UK government will want to do something with their £500M battery factory in Coventry when it opens and Geely have supposedly put up another £320M for a production facility solely for EVs. The great thing about this game is you can see who’s right at some point. Interesting times!
 
The battery plant in Coventry is more of a research plant. It’s the large plan in Blyth in the north east with the £2.6bn Gigafactory where we might start seeing the ball rolling although the people behind it have a bit of a wobbly history.
 
I don’t mind wobbly histories. Some of the top people I know (and quite I few I don’t know) had decidedly wobbly histories before they made it REALLY big.
