... they buy the exact same car - how would you feel?

Happy: (feel good about it, happy for the friend, doesn't bother you etc..)

Neutral: (ambivalent, mixed emotions, flattered but annoyed, depends on the friend etc..)

Unhappy: (irritated, betrayed, spoils your car/less unique etc..)

Id be weirded out that they went out the next day and bought the same car without saying anything to me. Is that "mixed emotions" lol

Wouldn’t bother me at all, I liken it to women who get upset when their friends buy the exact same outfit.

I let my friend drive my old modified mk2 TTS, the next week he bought a mk2 TTRS :p

I felt good about it, obviously it made a good impression

I think if you feel anything other than flattered that they think you made a good enough decision that they want to copy it, then you've got insecurity or attention issues.

Would be great to have a mate who has the same car to compare notes with

I cant say I would be bothered. I've put neutral in the poll but if I had to think either side of that I would probably feel more flattered than annoyed.

Wouldn't bother me and I don't really buy my cars to be unique or special, though I can see why someone who has perhaps worked really hard to get into some sort of really special dream car would be irritated if a friend dampened that exciting 'wow, look at dowie's awesome new car' mood by casually buying one the same without issue the very next day. That might have a bit of 'haha, you had to work hard for that but I could just do it on a whim and steal your thunder' vibe to it.

I’d take it as an acknowledgment of my wonderful judgement and choice of a find vehicle.

AKA not give a toss. :p

How about you mention to someone you're getting a dog and say what you're going to call it, only to find out a week later they've gone out and got a new dog and have given it the name you'd chosen? I did stick to my guns and didn't change my name choice.

It’s already happened to me and I didn’t care in the slightest. Well it wasn’t the next day but about a month later.

I’d bought a Mk7 Fiesta ST, gave him a shot and he wanted one straight away.

I can’t see why anyone would have a problem with this at all.

Could've been considering it for a while, seen mine(yours) and was enough to push over the edge. I'd be happy I helped a friend make an important decision.

Wouldn't bother me, if they've gone out and got the same car that quick they must either really like it or their trying to keep up with the joneses and that's on them not me.
