Getting proper dirty time of year. Having started a new job I am doing 70 miles a day in a block of 4. Saab is having a new engine so the little Suzuki is having to step up. Nothing special just a foam and a bit of wheel cleaner. Collinite 476 I put on in September is holding up.

Will be filthy again in a few days.

That has come up nice - you should now get about 50mph out of it without the drag of dirt. - :)

I have stopped washing mine now as it's just as bad next time I go out. Yes that 476 does work well.

Definitely consider a waffle weave towel for the 2nd towel. Wipe one panel with the mammoth then straight over it again with the waffle weave.

This is the waffle towel I have https://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/co...s/products/poorboys-waffle-weave-drying-towel

CarPro do one I’m sure they are the same.

Cheers for that will grab one of them.

What's the Carpro wheel cleaner? Iron X or is that purely for fallout removal?

How many of you use ceramic wax’s? I like a good carnauba wax and have have been using Fuso coat during the winter months. When I washed and prepared both our cars for the winter this year I applied Fuso coat to mine and EZ ceramic wax to my wife’s car as I had a small pot of it from the weekend warrior kit I got for Father’s Day. Got to say I am very impressed with the ceramic wax, almost two months later it’s still beading and sheeting very well.

curious question for you guys

Is there a wax available that is quick to apply if your in a hurry ?

i have autoglm sealant but you need to leave it 30-60 mins before buffing off

There are spray waxes which will be quicker. I don’t have any experience with them, Turtle wax do some in their more premium range.

If you want to get down some protection super quick, CarPro HydrO2 or Gyeon Wet Coat. Breeze to use and lovely water behaviour.

I find the Autoglym Polar Seal quite good. Its applied using a snow foam lance...just coat the whole car, leave it for a minute, then rinse. Probably not quite as effective as a proper wax, however if you wash the car regularly, and you have the pressure washer out anyway, you can keep it topped up.

I'll also throw Sonax BSD and Garage Therapy Two Sigma into the equation... both quick to apply, buff with similar duration.. BSD can be applied when the car is wet and used as a drying aid which is really useful.

Hoping to treat my car to it's first proper wash since picking it up in September, I've got 2BM, decent wash mitt, Snow foam (autobrite magifoam) but need suggestions on how to most time efficiently do any decontamination (including wheels, fallout remover?) and then sealant / hydrophobic coating as it seems the game has moved on from the Bilberry Wheel clean, Carlack NSC and Col 476s I have in the garage that has no doubt gone beyond it's best!

I've been looking at the Gyeon Q2 Cure and CanCoat stuff, along with Gtechniq c2v3 but not sure what is best! I am after easy application, reasonably longevity (few months would be good) and have about £100 to get myself some new chemicals. Any suggestions most welcome, and I will trawl back through the hundreds of posts on here as I bring my car cleaning knowledge out of 2010!

I've used CanCoat and I really like it although I do also enjoy using a range of toppers on it such as Polish Angel.

If you're prepared to put in the prep time for a light ceramic such as CanCoat (Clay, Tar, Iron fallout & IPA wipedown) you'll easily get 6 months out of it and I've never seen a product self clean or bead as well.

For wheels, Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels is fantastic stuff.

Your Collinite is still a great product but I always found it quite time consuming to apply as it took so much effort to buff off! As it's winter there are some fantastic spray wax/sealant that you could use before the weather gets a bit better. Have a look for reviews on Turtle Wax, Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer & Meguiars ceramic infused spray wax :) For something a little different you could try Autoglym Polar Seal (application through your foam lance) or Gyeon Wetcoat if you want a wash off style sealant. I just found both of these needed regular applications to keep them topped up.

I hope that's some food for thought :)

I've detailed my engine bay today, using CarPro Multi X at 1:10 and dressed with CarPro PERL.

loving the engine bay transformation

do you spray that car pro over the engine bay, then what brush you use ?

ill be doing my engine bay in the spring

Thank you both. Yes, the Multi X is an APC that you dilute down yourself. I just used a soft detailing brush to agitate it and get into all the nooks and crannies. Some areas I rinsed with a low spray from my DI vessel & dried with a MF.

Muska loving your work there, great transformation , must get myself some Perl to try

Perl is just a fantastic product. Only used it for the past year but its versatility is what I love about it. Especially when time is of the essence and you have multiple cars. Tyres, exterior and interior plastic, rubbers etc. Just gives it that extra pop compared to just a wash requiring minimal effort.
