Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Hi, i'm looking to learn more about stock market and how to invest money smart.

Im looking for an advise from someone that may have come across something that helped them at the beginning of their journey, any help, resources, tips would be greatly appreciated.

Have anyone got a clue about Nigel Farage's and his young mate's "Great British Wealth Revival"? They also have a crypto expert and an investment expert on board. I caught his ad on youtube in between of watching videos. I subscribed to his daily email thing. So he goes, I gave you brexit, now I want you to take control of your money and have a wealthy country. I started listening. He was bs around about normal people that want a decent lifestyle and how he can give it. I was suspecting something fishy. Then he slyly moved towards talking about investing your money and no longer small money but biggish.

I already encountered a number of youtube channels that talk all kinds of things and then start offering an investing opportunity where they get a cut in a way. I had a deja-vu. So he kept promising more and more, that he knows everything and can predict future. That fiat money is on it's death bed. Only gold and "that thing" can make us rich. That thing that thing, he made an hour video talking about that thing and is prepared to disclose what that is for a subscription of £399 per year, currently discounted to £79 per year with 3 months free money back guarantee.

He was actually talking about bLockchain technology.

The funny thing today I saw another ad by a totally different guy who told exactly the same things like Nigel Farage in his 1.5 hour ad and promised to make everyone rich out of a kind heart. That everyone will have 1000s of % investment growth from undisclosed blockchain investments. He also promised to tell more about them if you subscribe to his $700 podcast, currently reduced to $49 with 2 months cancellation period.

I mean why Nigel Farage would do something like that? He has an investment "expert" on board who is "so good" he has a hand of midas no less. Then why would they take a subscription fee, if they can just take one of their millions and turn it into 10?

Youtube has some decent channels on this matter but a lot are US focused but the underlying principles remain the same (Dave Ramsey is good if you can put up with his sanctimonious delivery). Skip/ignore anyone selling 'courses' these sharks are out to rip you off (these goons will show up on adverts if your looking at financial investment videos).

If your a beginner and want to get your feet wet I would look at investing into either stocks and shares ISA for the tax benefits or a mutual fund (Jupiter for example). Mutual funds can be specialised in investing into particular share types so if you're interested in a particular industry this might be the way to go.

Hey, hey, bro... I've got an amazing proposition for you bro, you can be super rich bro... *whispers* just keep it real quiet as not many people know about it... Okay chuck me that £400 bro, cool alright you ready? Buy Bitcoin bro

Yeah, most are scams tbh. Not looked at the Farage thing but does sound dodgy. I'd not trust him as far as I can throw him anyway tbh. Granted, there really will be some who want to help others but most need the income as they don't make money or enough of it, from what they're advising others to do.

Yes, the "thing" is bitcoin. Don't need to pay anything to learn that but with everything, nothing is guaranteed.

Investing is really easy especially if starting young. Buy good companies or funds and just hold for the long run. £10k in Amazon at $6.5 is probably something like £5million today, to give an extreme example :)

Trading is different and in most markets 80-90% probably fail. What most will teach is really not what will make the profits. Many signing up to these kind of "paid groups" are looking for a system to learn, or be told trade signals but that rarely works, IMO.

The BTC price is unbelievable! I want to join in, but it feels like something bad will happen.
you can get some for free on coinbase, sign up go to the "earn section" and click all the earn videos one time.
it will say you can't earn on them yet your interest has been made aware or some crap like that.
wait roughly 24hours, now you should be able to do the videos and take the quizes to earn coins

collect all the rewards convert the coins to BTC.
let it sit there or whatever.

I did it in december and it converted to a whopping £27.25 worth of BTC :O (obviously coin values change over time, so you might get less or you might get more)

you need to verify your account though for money laundering regs etc.
so you can't do it unless your prepared to send a scan of your passport or whatever.

it's coinbase though they are massive, it's not like its some uber dodgy site

here's an ocuk discussion of it

There is lots of articles out there - if fund managers struggle to beat their benchmarks, then what is the chance of an individual investor?

Thats why most people recommend you pick a global equity tracker, and contribute what you can for long term investing. For short term investing - if you require funds within the next 5 to 10 years, then you pick less volatile investments.

Maybe it's a bit late to get into it but anybody thinking about Panasonic tomorrow morning? Saw they have just announced a deal with Tesla for producing batteries over the weekend...

So are you saying it is better to invest into something like SP 500 than look for a business with potentail as it's more reliable and safe in the long run?

Is it also worht considering investing into single companies like e.g. Apple?

I also wanted to ask for an opinion regarding forex trading and bitcoin trading, is it worht consideering?

Not for an amateur.

If you want to dip your toes, starting with a stocks and shares ISA as recommended above is a good idea. Someone like Vanguard makes it easy, and they have lots of pre-packaged products to chose from (depending how much risk/reward you want to take), along with the ability to buy individual stocks. They are more meant for investing in the medium/longer term increase of the stock market. Make sure you make yourself aware of fees and think about what you're trying to achieve.

*Disclaimer* I'm a Vanguard customer, but otherwise not linked to them and gain no benefit from suggesting them to you.

No idea about forex. But isn’t Bitcoin just gambling essentially? It is so volatile it is almost pot luck or sheer nerves to make it big?

I know plenty people lost a lot of money and also some individuals boasting the sums they made on bitcoins.

Are you looking to flip them from one day to another or frequencies that traders do?

Is trading 212 any good? I am tempted to try them.

Nearly lost so much money on Forex. Was £100 down with 9 open trades (x10K). If resistance was breached couldve lost hundreds. Waited all night then there was a massive crash and I actually made money. £60 up with one extra trade. I actually have a part time job in a shop 3 night a week(traded at work tonight). I want to retire when I get 300K and get a cheap mortgage for a small house up north.

Trading is not a good way to make money. Especially not Forex. Especially not in tiny amounts, and absolutely positively not when you are playing with the only money you have.

It's a good way to (try to) make sure the significant sums of money you already have saved get at least an above inflation return.

We get it, you want access to the MM but this isn't the thread to post about your gambling.

Anyone in ENT? (Formally GVC) - I talked about it in Here a while ago... Added quite a bit to my house deposit pot with this morning’s news (MGM bid)
