Anyone else having real crappy quality with Twitch streams lately with them keep going down to 480p quality and buffering then back up to 1080/720?..been happening for weeks now.

I phoned VM up yesterday to re-negotiate my package because i see they are putting up the price again by £3.50 a month which would have bought my monthly bill to around £77 a month, Now it'll be around £50 ish which is still expensive imo for 350/60 but hey a saving is a saving.

was in the phone wait for over an hour...not impressed, I get they have had to close centres because of covid but Christ sake with the amount of money they make take on some more WFH staff!
 
got email about price 3.50 increase and my discounts gonna come to an end by march too. they saying i can cancel now in the email and there will be no cancellation charges. city fiber is in my area via vodafone offering 500 meg up and down for 35 a month. looks like i will go with that deal. cant be asked with virgin any more.

I've about 14 months left on my contract, having reached the end of my first 18 month contract around September and then signed up to a new 18 month deal.

Can I not just terminate and then sign up as a new customer? Anyone done this or do they block this?

According to their site, the 500Mb package is about the same price as my current 350Mb deal + the £3.50 increase.

Unfortunately at the moment this is the best internet option I have until fibre is fully up and running. Even then, I had Virgin install it in my spare room/office. Pretty sure BT would need me to install downstairs, which I don't want to do as I want wired not wifi upstairs.
 
im on broadband only 350meg with virgin and currently pay 38 a month. their website says its 38.99 a month for it so its only 99p off from what im currently paying although the 3.50 hike will make it too much.
vodafones city fiber option is looking to be very appealing since its a 500 meg up and down for 35 quid a month and thats locked for 24 months. the upload alone makes the deal tempting and the price drop is icing on the cake. i gonna ring virgin on the weekend to setup a cancelation unless they end up offering me the 500 meg for like 33 quid a month. but i think now is the time to change to get the bonus of the upload speed with vodafone.
my cousin 2 streets down has voda 900 meg and its insane. cant do much with 900 meg since most limitations are server side. but multi user is good.
 
Does anyone here know if virgin manage have a taffic management policy/fair usage policy? I've just had another VM engineer here to look in to my slow connection during peak times. He said it's possible that I could be on a fair usage policy because I'm a high user. I would have thought many other people would be much more high users than me though. Anyway, having looked at the VM terms of service it states

'Great news! After listening to your feedback, we’ve decided to stop applying traffic management to your download or upload activity. No matter which broadband service you take from us, we won’t reduce your speed. So now you can download and upload as much as you like without worrying about traffic management measures slowing you down.'

So either the engineer doesn't know what he's talking about or VM do apply fair usage policy without admitting it
 
As stated before, the vast majority of their engineers are useless or purposefully limited in what they can try.

In fact, using the term engineer for them is pretty funny.
 
Really not sure what to do about my internet. I live alone so every penny counts, I paid £25 a month for 100mb BB last year, renewed recently and could only get the same speed for £29 a month for 18 months. With the £3.50 hike my internet a month is going up £7.50 from a months back, tempted to just look elsewhere really, I only have broadband and refuse to pay it.
 
Got the £3.50 email as well. I think last time they must had a lot of people phone up as they had an automated 'press 1 to remove your price increase' option so you didn't even have to speak to anyone. At the moment I'm paying £30 for 100Mbit.
 
Another one that got the £3.50 email. That will take my bill to £49 a month for the 200 package of theirs. Got to the stage now where it is far too much especially since looking at it if i was a new customer i could get the same package for £32. I am in 2 minds to do the call up and threaten to cancel thing that a lot of you guys on here talk about. but since the internet is my only form of entertainment i'm worried they will just say ok and cancel it. I am rubbish at negotiating guess i got to get my man pants on :D
 
Anyone know if canceling do you have to give virgin a notice period or they can cancel straight away? Also if canceling mid billing period do you get refunded for the other half of the month etc?
 
I've been having problems with my tv services for months now, had 3 visits from their techs , tried phoning for the last week get through to security questions and onto we will transfer you to the next available operative, 3 rings and hangs up, now they want to charge more, so in effect I'll be paying £38.50 for phone and 100meg broadband, only just found out they removed our tv package, down to Freeview, I don't watch tv only the wife watches it. If I could get decent broadband I would bin this lot, roll on 5g rollout. Will make the dreaded phone ,
 
Ok got through to the automated virgin line and yes it gives option to press button to remove the price hike for 6 months if you go through to the leaving process path.
I didn't accept the offer since im just gonna switch to cityfiber. Unless virgin offer me 500 meg for 30 quid
 
Just found this in their website:

If you're on a 30 day rolling contract or you decide to leave us after your minimum fixed term contract period, you'll just need to give us 30 days' notice.


Since kids doing home learning etc gonna get setup with Vodafone first then make the call to virgin. Dont want any down time. Loose out on 1 months fee with virgin but gets clawed back due to cheaper rate from voda in like 10 months.
