30xx Series Founders Edition

Well so far my thoughts on the 3080 FE:

- super premium look and feel all round except power connectors
- seriously impressed with how quiet it is (by far the most impressive thing), quieter than my undervolted sapphire pulse vega 56, little coil whine when over 100 fps which will probably go after some more usage
- not seen temps go above 78 at most, not done any undervolting
- nvidia control panel is absolutely meh compared to amd, missing some much needed features and overall design/functionality is miles behind amd here, not to mention having to install 3rd party software for changing clocks, monitoring etc.
- this seems to be pushing/using my cpu far more than vega 56 did i.e. with div 2, there were some annoying hitches on my vega 56, not down to lower fps etc. where as 3080 super smooth
- hdr works without faffing about so no different to amd
- not noticing much/any difference in IQ, well nothing jumping out atm anyway
- dlss is good in cyerbpunk but still doesn't beat native res. if you want excellent clarity
- ray tracing is ok, nothing to write home about and in some respects, I found it to harm IQ, might need to mess with settings more though....

As expected double the perf. of my vega 56 overall.

All in all, in todays market, bargain at £650, time to try and sell the vega 56 on for £300 and the cod code for £20 now :D

Good feedback! Out of interest, what's your case and airflow set-up?

Fractal meshify c

- be quiet shadow rock pro 3 cpu heatsink (ryzen 2600 at stock)
- 2 120mm akassa apache at the front
- 1 fractal default 120mm at the back

Was expecting my cpu temps to have upped as well due to the fan design of the FE but in fact, they have actually dropped from 66 to 55 degrees

Interesting. The FE cooler design is genuinely innovative then.... Nice!

Honestly the only real innovative part of it is the fact they changed some of the fins direction on the heatsink near the i/o to eject some of the air out the back of the case. Besides that the card is basically a small pcb with an overhanging heatsink, pretty similar to what sapphire have been doing on cards for years now, the fury tri-x and sapphire pulse are along the same lines, though obviously this heatsink on the FE cards are all metal construction so better quality, and it has a more unique look with the fan placement.

AMD definitely beat NVIDIA in this regard. Even on the CPU side, AMD have a more user-friendly option in PBO2 than Intel although Intel XE is still a decent tool.

Yeah like even to launch it i.e. right click load geforce panel, it literally takes 10 seconds to load!!!! With AMD it was instant.

Shocking how people still prefer/like nvidias control panel.

Also, people always say nvidia got more features with their control panel  AMD have far more options/features to play around with.

Don't even get me started on their in game overlay :o

Thankfully it's not something I need to go in and mess around with often though.......

At least it's relatively easy to open Afterburner, move the curve and you're all set, but I feel that's something that NVIDIA should offer, not a 3rd party.

AMD also follow the approach of dynamic OC, undervolt, etc. which I think will be the way forward as different applications have different requirements.

Yup thankfully afterburner etc. are good but be nice to have everything in the one place and the potential to have less issues with 3rd party software that can happen "occasionally".

Saying that I do use fan curve control though as it is by far the best tool for anything fan related.

Here's amds oc/uv layout, great design and functionality:

Upgraded to 3070FE from Vega 56 (sapphire pulse) and I do miss the AMD driver software. Nvidia one is very basic. Just to let you know I've sold my Vega 56 on ebay for £310 under 10 min once the add was up. You won't have any issues selling your card with miners at work.

Enjoy your 3080FE :D
