Random 3D printing chatter

It's the part cooling fan I have issues with. The hotend fan I just ran a 12V always-on Noctua 40x20. The part cooling fan needs to be controllable but the Creality board does oddball things with a lower frequency ground-switched control. It makes the sound very rough even on a Noctua - which I'm not convinced has enough flow down a duct for part cooling. I have an old Cisco (probably Delta) in there at the moment with a resistor and it's a lot better but far too loud with the roughness. Might be ok if not running on a lumpy signal!
Electronics cooling is handled by a 92mm Noctua...as that was the only one thin enough. Tis nice and quiet though :-)
Thanks for the PWM controller link. Saves me wondering just how silly it would be to put an Aquaero in! ;-)

I just tried my new TFT70 and the same thing.
I'm dreading it being the motherboard :(

Do you guy think I should update the TFT70, or leave it till later?
I know you can not revert back.

Ive never updated my 35. I'm also pretty sure it wont be the board and the most likely thing is the firmware.

Is the board in the printer? Or are you just testing?
 
If you are just testing quick ill do you a super quick and dirty firmware that should get the lcd running. If it is in the printer then ill need to go through the full config. I'm still working though so ill have to have a proper look when I finish up.

The TFT70 works for touchscreen\marlin it just can't connect to the printer.
It's outside the printer as I need the bottom off to get to the BTT Motherboard.

Here's a quick question for you. PETG. New spool and the bag's got a hole in it meaning the air's got in. Given that I don't have a dryer, should I be sending it back as it'll be trashed or should it be ok?

Cheers, that's what I figured. First time with PETG too so I'd rather be sure it was my fault when it doesn't work! :D
 
@Vince It's now working to a fashion.

There was 2 problems.
1-there was a bad earth on the motherboard.
2-the BTT cables are crap.

The only thing now is that it can't switch on Auto Bed leveling.
I will go over to the BTT github and report.

And if I do press the ABL icon, the hotend hits the bed.
It needs a mesh for ABL to work. But ABL has to work to get a Mesh! :(

Ok ABL needs home before it can abl so if you home the machine first then ABL does it work?

In other news ive been doing some printing and building:







Once I have octoprint up and running im going to upgrade the extruder to the aero I have. I also need to rebuild Y axis :)

Thanks dude, it's much easier to get decent prints on this machine. Still more to do though :D

It's display-c a 1024x600 (native) software emulation up to 1920x1080.

Its hdmi/usb touch. Currently plugged into my desktop for spotify :D

Its ips and actually really decent for the 30 quid I paid for it.

Works for what I need it for. The pi will mount to the back of that lcd and that whole thing will be able to be clipped on and off of the printer. I've also got a pi camera which I will mount. I've decided that connected to the printer i'll just run 5.1v directly to the gpio pins as in my testing some usb cables seem to have massive voltage drop off. I bought a couple of braided fairly cheap usb cables off of amazon and cut the end off. Wired that into a buck converter with my bench supply set at 12v to mirror the printers supply. I powered on the Pi with that then measured only 4.3v at the gpio pins, so yea just another reason not to buy cheap usb cables really.
