Sounds like Jaguar are going fully electric in the next few years

https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/reimagine

Our new global strategy will see us Reimagine our future:

  • A sustainability-rich reimagination of modern luxury, unique customer experiences, and positive societal impact
  • Reimagination of Jaguar as an all-electric luxury brand from 2025 to ‘realise its unique potential’
  • In the next five years, Land Rover will welcome six pure electric variants as it continues to be the world leader of luxury SUVs
  • All Jaguar and Land Rover nameplates to be available in pure electric form by end of the decade; first all-electric Land Rover model in 2024
  • Our aim is to achieve net zero carbon emissions across our supply chain, products and operations by 2039
  • Collaborations and knowledge-sharing with industry leaders, in particular from within the wider Tata Group will allow the company to explore potential synergies on clean energy, connected services, data and software development leadership

A further 9 years to have BEV versions available of the 7 Land Rover models currently on sale and no BEV LR until 2024. Some good news but I wouldn’t exactly call that ambitious given how much a lot of these cars cost and the majority who actually buys them (e.g. fairly wealthy middle class people who could likely run a BEV).

Credit where it’s due on the Jag side for ditching the ICE models early, that said I doubt it’s sustainable for them to run ICE alongside EV given how few they sell these days.

Indeed Agile only works if you don't need to charge your car very frequently, and can take advantage of the dips when they happen. Also being able to time-shift other power heavy things like tumble drying, or hot wash cycles. dishwasher use.

It works for us as a family, but we have very light use between 16:00-19:00, and tend to only charge the car once a week at most, and even less infrequently due to lock down.
yes I suspect Octopus, relatively, don't have many Go customers and are even cross-subsidising from Agile, otherwise the Agile overnight rates should be down to Go levels,
maybe, as Johnny implies, when people are not using (beast east) overnight units for winter heating Agile becomes more competitive.

land rover have no hydrogen option yet then - like bmw .... how would I tow my horse box. ?

My daily driver '99 MR2 is probably going to be taxed to hell soon so I might be going electric when that happens.

But I am not sure how well older people will adopt the electric car movement - my parents are quite elderly now and like the independence that their little Peugeot gives them but I don't know how well they would adjust from a manual combustion engine to an automatic electric motor.

Someone I saw earlier on a nerdy Facebook Agile group I probably want to leave now said they did manage to call Ohme who upped the rate remotely. Hope they can help you out.
All sorted now. Not sure what happened but one of the settings I changed in the car didn't seem to take effect. Today I changed it again, switched the car off, and then on again and went for a drive. On returning home I plugged in the charger and pretty quickly went to 7kw. Phew. As I won't be using the car daily at the moment I'm tempted to change it back again for a slower charge :) (lower degradation?) but will probably just leave it as it is.

The gentle on battery option does seem to just delay the start of the charging. Won't be using it daily for now so will probably just leave that off and charge on a warm battery when returning home instead.EDIT: Actually it varies the charge speed too.

Happy with all that now (charging & charge speed) and very happy with the car. I had some reservations a while ago, and even some negative opinions and thanks to some of the discussion on here it help me decide to make the move to an EV.

EV’s are a whole lot easier to drive - having just two gears, forwards and backwards and if you want, you only need to use one pedal

after seeing the picture of Taycan guy letting the car out of control trying to park
... I'm sure my parents would like to feel the acclerator was damped a bit for slow manouvers, like backing into a space, too, where, for a manual ICE, you might slip the clutch and not use the brake.
Overtaking in the usually, most problematic 50-70mph region, I'm assuming there's enough power that you don't miss dropping a cog.

Taycan is notorious for super sensitive throttle.

drop it a gear, cute... the point is an EV is both operating in an efficient region and “on cam” at the same time.

Dropping a cog? An EV pulls like the best range in a car throughout there's no missing to be had, I hate getting into an ICE now :p
