I all,

I have a GTX 970 and it seems to be getting a little warm when playing. For the record I play at 1080p and don't really play heavy GPU games.

I have some Arctic Silver 5 and wounder if using it on the GPU will be OK or is it best to use something else?

Plus any do's and don'ts? Iv never taken a cooler off a GPU.

Thanks!

i have a strix 970 that i repasted a few weeks back, its pretty much exactly the same as you do for your cpu. clean the old stuff off., put a decent amount of new stuff on and re assemble, old cards like ours probably dont have thermal pads to worry about.

best thing is to search google/youtube for a teardown of your specific model if you want to be sure

Cheers guys I will take a look at the video and do some searching to see if I can find my model.I'll keep you posted.

Having recently preformed an autopsy on my dead 980ti, I noticed the thermal paste wasn't at it's best. After that I went and reapplied the paste on my brother's 960 and that has been running cooler since.

Hopefully you should just need to unscrew the most noticeable screws on the back, unscrew the four around the dye last. Good luck!
