Originally the 3090 was priced very high which meant that all but the most extreme buyers were steering clear. However the issue now is the double-whammy of stock shortages and increasing prices on weaker cards meaning that:I thought 3090s escaped most the gouging
No it wouldn't IMO. The 3090 would be viewed as some sort of elite Titan-esque part that normal gamers wouldn't even consider. The 3080, given it's faster than the 2080ti would get some buyers, but a lot of people would turn their nose up at paying a four-digit sum for a GPU.I wonder if the clamour for ampere would have been so great had they actually released at these prices, everyone was raving about the price performance especially for the 3080 but now they are actually worse than Turing in that department and most people skipped Turing due to the price performance.
The fact that OCUK was selling 6700xt cards for £450 and 3060 cards for £350 tells me what I need to know too.
When? lol

The 3090 is much easier to get than a3080 tooOriginally the 3090 was priced very high which meant that all but the most extreme buyers were steering clear. However the issue now is the double-whammy of stock shortages and increasing prices on weaker cards meaning that:
a) Some people who wanted to buy a gfx card will have gone for 3090 simply because they were were one of the few decent cards with some level of availability
b) Natural upward pressure on prices by virtue of the fact that cards like the 3080 have pushed north of £1k. If you gotta spend over a grand on a 3080, you start saying hey that 3090 for £1399 doesn't look so bad after all. And hence people know they can charge more for it.

£449 is the cheapest 3060 Ive seen on OCUK. That was on 25th March.
So I can't see the fighter at that price again more like £500
How do you know MSI didn't charge the shop £2300?
Maybe that store gets a better deal from suppliers since their market share is 20X larger than ocuk.Because there is another store in the UK that sell all the top 3090 cards for under 2000 and do this every week
At least rich people have the option to buy a GPU without waiting. If I won the lottery I`d consider buying it myself. If it was priced normally then it would be sold already so at least it`s stock for those with cash.
I`m not going to let the situation wind me up anymore.
