Founders edition, what to expect?

Don't think i've ever really overclocked a GPU, underclock/volt for mining but thats about it.

How do I connect the 3070 properly, I've watched videos it has a 12 pin connector. Do I use separate cables for it or whats the best way to plug it in without causing problems. Does it come with a adapter cable to connect into the psu?

I did some research and what I know is a founders edition is the first GPU which is made, so no lights and extra fans etc. If I was to secure a founders edition 3070 what should I expect exactly. Would it be something I should use myself for heavy gaming or would it be something I should sell?

My 980ti died last week and I put together a new PC at the worst possible time ever due to GPU stock. I think I managed to secure a 3070 founders edition, how good is this GPU exactly?

Thanks.
Seems a bit strange that you would spend so much on a card and not know if you should use or sell it or even how good it is. Especially seeing as you had to setup founders editions alerts and all that. Seems like you have already secured one so why ask?

I heard it's not good for overclocking compared to other brands. I don't know how to overclock so it's perfect for me!
To be honest there is no need to OC most GPUs, the AIB ones that are good for this already come pre-overclocked. For the average user you will not see much difference from a overclock. Its more for benchmarking and stuff.

I've been desperate to find a replacement for my 980ti and purely because I built a new pc last week. I didn't have specific alerts I was just in a discord and I happened to wake up at the right time. It seemed too good to be true but just wanted some advice or knowledge on the gpu itself. Never had founders edition in my life.

Awesome. I just need to find a new monitor now lol. My old display doesn't support displayport just DVI and HDMI. Unfortunately the HDMI is locked at 60hz, maybe I can grab a 144hz adapter cheap somewhere we'll see.

It comes with a dedicated adapter.

Enjoy the card mate, should do you well, at least now you can sit out this GPU rat race.

Thanks man. It's just crazy to me. Last week was probably the worst time I have ever had in a while, bad luck after bad luck. Then I wake up on my last day off from work and this happens.

I’d pretty much given up on trying to get a GPU and decided I’d rather go back to Xbox for a bit and keep my PC for the few PC only games I play.

I don’t know how but I managed to buy a 3070 founders edition on a certain site this morning. Now I’m in a dilemma, to get the most out of the 3070 I need a new monitor as I’m still stuck on a 60Hz 1080p TN monitor.

Not sure if I should sell the 3070FE and try and get an Xbox or throw even more money at my PC and upgrade the monitor.

Not at all. I'm just a very anxious person and I'm kind of thinking that I secured it because it's not a good gpu or something, I don't believe I have this type of luck. I work over 50 hours a week and I just woke up this morning and managed to secure one. Seems too good to be true so I'm questioning everything, forgive me. :(

You must be the opposite of me then... I had to go out for an hour this morning to take my car for a service, and while in the car my phone was going nuts with stock tracker alerts for a few 3080 cards. Of course, they were all sold out by the time I was able to check my phone :( Every other morning this week I have been sitting at my computer

Wow. Same boat as me, got the 3070 and need adaptor or new monitor. I can't link the adaptor here but you can get one for around £50.

Wait the 3070 doesn’t come with an adapter for the PSU? And £50 for an adapter is steep... sounds a bit like an Apple product at this point.

Sorry I misread your post. I mean adapter for a monitor to get 144hz haha. My monitor doesn't support displayport and the hdmi on my monitor is locked at 60hz. So I need a new monitor which supports DP or a adapter for my current one!

No such thing as an adaptor unfortunately, you're going to need a new monitor if you want to get more than 60hz

The FE are a bit hindered due to memory thermals but aside from that they're probably the best, best looking, best quality, nice bit of subtle RGB, quiet.

They're probably the furthest cards from "reference" though.

I think some AIBs are just as bad when it comes to memory thermals, its a shame NV have not released a rev2 with better thermal pads for the memory.

none of them really overclock well compared to the old days both nvidia and amd have them running close to full wack on stock

I don't get it, why did you buy it if you didn't want it?
