Anyone pre ordering a 3080ti lol?

Not sure as there is Memory Usage and Memory Usage/Process and same again for Ram so 4 variables (one will be System RAM other GPU Memory I assume by wording) though would have been better tagging as VRAM.

I would say the default is actual VRAM used not inc Cached.

Cache is just memory an application has 'laid claim' to - doesn't mean it's actually going to *use* it - Windows is currently using 2.7GB and has cached 2.9 GB - does it need it? Only Windows knows - but it's cached it just in case. Resident Evil 8 says it needs 9.3 GB of VRAM to run with all the bells and whistles turned on but it clearly doesn't since it runs seemingly without any performance penalty on an 8GB GPU (and even a 6GB GPU).

I'm gonna try get one perhaps, I'm taking my 3080FE to a high street shop tomorrow as they'll have it for £1444, it's going to be tough using a laptop with a 2079 max q for however many months !

I can't find the link but I read that the prices were accidentally published on an Australian site. The USD equivalent price was 1350usd for the lowest cost and 2300usd for the premium brands. If true you can probably say the the UK price will £1350-£2300.

And they are gimped for mining....
Which although I hate the whole mining lark, they shouldn't be gimped. That's plain bs.

I'll be picking up a $999 3080ti Founders Edition (£750-800 in UK) as soon as I can. Will get by with my MSI 3080 Gaming X in the meanwhile.

May take a while to get lucky with a stock drop (using telegram app to monitor etc) but worth it for that price IMO :)

makes sense, every 5% counts, expect you'll be moving to zen 3 soon too then and the 3090 not long after

edit: oh and there is no FE for the 3080ti

So you would prefer that these upcoming cards are unlocked for miners so it's yet again impossible to buy one due to bots? Good thinking...

Says who?

^^^This..

I've been waiting for a 3080FE, if the 3080Ti comes in FE flavour then at least we know we'll get a semi-decent priced 3080Ti, otherwise the AIB's and retailers will have our first born and kidneys..

Your not serious are you?
There is going to be next to no difference in performance between the 2. If anything, the stock-clocked FE might be about the same as your slight OC X trio.

Unless you manage to sell your 3080 X Trio for more than the cost of the 3080ti, seems a waste of time/money upgrading.

You must be new? Look back at Nvidia's previous GPU generations. There's usually at least 15% improvement from a non "Ti" card to the "TI" variant. If they were the same speed, it wouldn't make sense, would it?!

Besides, we know from the leaked specs that it's 3090 performance level at least - with the possibility of being faster, if it's a better binned chip that reaches higher clock speeds.

Few games I've played are nipping at the heels of the 10GB VRAM. I game at 4k on a CX48, also on a Valve Index - more VRAM is always good.

Nice condescending start to your post.
Given that 3090 is barely 15% faster than 3080, I cant see how 3080ti would. And if 3080ti is faster than 3090...well that just made that card even more redundant/edge case than it already is.

If you are struggling with VRAM, 2GB extra is hardly going to solve that for long. If you really need more... surely 3090 makes more sense.

Nice condescending start to your post.

You wrote in your first post that "There is going to be next to no difference in performance between the 2." - this is incorrect, hence the (truthful) condescending response. Not my fault you're unaware of what the "Ti" branding means, based on previous generations.

Given that 3090 is barely 15% faster than 3080, I cant see how 3080ti would. .

Note my use of language " possibility of being faster, if it's a better binned chip that reaches higher clock speeds.". This is an example of tentative language, not dogmatic language. At the very least, it'll be 3090 performance, will will suit me just fine.

I bought my 3080 in early November, as it was physically on a shelf in front of me. Looking back, I'm glad I did, as sourcing a 3090 wasn't certain. I'll welcome the extra 15% performance at 4K and in VR.

Your not seeming to actually fully read or understand my posts. Unsure if your trolling, or have a condition.

I said "Few games I've played are nipping at the heels of 10GB VRAM". 'Nipping at the heels' - in this context, means games are getting close to saturating the VRAM. Doesn't mean struggling. Also "few" means not all.

Extra 2GB VRAM will be absolutely perfect for me, until I upgrade to a 4080.

I kinda get the feeling from your posts that you're being threatened by a 3080ti being the same gaming performance as your 3090, for close to half the price (for a FE). What we all spend our money on is our own choice, just enjoy what you have and let others do the same :)
