HI all,
Im currently using an Intel® Pentium® G5400 CPU with ASUS PRIME H310M-E (Socket- 1151, 2x DDR4, Micro-ATX) but am wanting to upgrade the CPU to the next level as money Is tight so I can have a better time on flight sim 2020 but I have no experience and knowledge.

Is there a CPU I can but to swop out the old one to give me a better game time does not have to be new but newer than I have currently.

Regards
Anthony

i7 4790k is the answer, more than twice the cpu mark score of your pentium.
The board only supports 8th and 9th gen parts so something like a 9400F would probably be the most suited upgrade although if you can stretch to £250 then a B560 board + 11400F would add quite a bit more performance and futureproofing.

Yep think you are right, thought it was socket 1150.

Thanks all for the reply did you need to see the rest of my pc bits/set up

Is there different types of 9400f as looking on Amaz I'm getting a little confused and a new 560 board ?
Would my current ram also need changing then ?

The Intel 9400f is probably your best bet but make sure you update the BIOS first. If you have the money an 11400f + B560 motherboard will be far better.
Do I only have to update the Bios which I believe Is on the motherboard If I only get the 9400f ?
But I’ll look at the 11400f + b560 when wife lets me on the pc.
Also do I need a cpu cooler which I think I have on my old CPU or will I need another one.
I’ll upgrade the ram to 16gb whichever way I go.

Which b560 motherboard would you recommend as there seems quite a few under that b560, Sorry to ask again.

Should be a stock cooler included. Look for £120 its a nifty little upgrade.... £100+ more for 11400f/mobo and no real framerate improvement in games. Your min framerates will improve in FS2020 with 9400f so should be smoother.

Some CPUs come with coolers; others do not. But the stock cooler is very poor and especially with the 11400 you will want a 120mm aftermarket cooler - £25-£35.

FS2020 is very single core dependent. Also the best combo would be an 8 core, 16 thread CPU for FS2020 as it still, somewhat, takes advantage of hyperthreading.

I disagree that the best choice would be the 9400f.
The best choice for yourself, would actually be a 8700 (non-k), in my opinion. The 8700 has hyperthreading whereas the 9400f does not. And the 8700 has a higher boost frequency too (4.6ghz Vs 4.1ghz).

Of course it will come down to budget and the price difference between the 9400f and 8700. But because the 8700 has hyperthreading, it should outlast the 9400f, thinking into the future...
