Hackers have stolen valuable information from major game publisher Electronic Arts (EA), the company said.

The attackers claimed to have downloaded source code for games such as FIFA 21 and for the proprietary Frostbite game engine used as the base for many other high-profile games.

News of the hack was first reported by news site Vice, which said some 780GB of data was stolen.

EA said no player data had been stolen in the breach.

Was just reading this.

Used to be a fifa player some time ago, would love to see any of their loot box and dynamic difficulty skullduggery to be shared with the world :D:D:D

#whocares ? :D

Let's only hope they dont sell it to another developer and we see yet more reskins and terrible games.....AE games coming soon.

What you gonna do with that anyway?
I mean really?

I guess unless you random EA for it back.

Similar happened with City of Heroes which meant eventually the game has come back after being sunset by the publisher. Fortunately they seem to have taken a somewhat pragmatic view of it.

(Though I think in that case it wasn't so much a hack as such just a mixture of things which lead to various people having access to the source outside the company including former developers who managed to put together something working - initially in secret)

I don't really care for EA but the source code being around for frostbite means that cheat coders will have a much easier time and they can be far more malicious

How are these massive companies losing so much stuff constantly what a joke, they don't deserve to even hold a users login details bro....
Make steam great again, erm I mean bring back cdkeys like the oldern days... cd key to login..... cd key not authorised you can no play......

So many big companies/corporations have weak security.
Shouldn't be a big hit to EA as for most games they recycle the code from the previous year. :)
