6700xt
* guaranteed rdna 2 optimizations throughout the entire generation (see rdr 2, rx 580 performs near a 1070. 4 years later, you will be seeing 6700xt performing near a 3080 in many titles.
i'm serious)
* %20-25 less cpu bottleneck, meaning you will always have %20-25 more cpu headroom with a RDNA gpu compared to Nvidia GPU (3700x is not a high end CPU, so you will run into bottlenecks with 3060ti/6700xt. bottlenecks will be %20-25 less severe with AMD GPU. Simple.
* better gpu performance at 1080p/1440p due to how ampere is specifically built for 4K. 6700xt already decimates the 3070 in certain games at 1080p/1440p with appopriate setitngs
if you're not going to
uprade your cpu, don't get an nvidia gpu... or be prepared to drop below 50 fps in open world titles
this person is very knowledgeable around these architectures. he also predicted the CPU overhead problem on DX12 4 years before.
he also claims ampere has some
weird alu/register ratio that will need NVIDIA to make special optimizations per-game to keep peak occupancy in games. this is troubling, once nvidia stops doing that, all AMPERE gpus may get
DEGRADED performance (
DISCLAIMER: This is my opinion. The person in the video never ever claims something like that. Its entirely my own speculation. But I heard "similar" things for Kepler, how it was a weird architecture and needed "special" code paths from Nvidia to get "good performance".)
you can listen that around 5:26
you will have none of these concerns with an RDNA GPU. Simple!
in conclusion:
if you're going to keep your gpu for more than 2-3 years, get a 6700xt...
