Except that the F1A5 is much cheaper that the PS4, often to the tune of £60-80 per set.
If they're so close in performance...what need is there to consider the PS4 if I can get the same for much cheaper?

Because you often can't? When I got mine they were a total of £50 a set cheaper than the F1A5, which if I am honest is what swung the decision for me. There is often a cashback offer run through Michelin which makes further savings.

Let's imagine I need a tyre right now. In my rear tyre size on Camskill, I can buy either:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5: £175.20
Michelin Pilot Sport 4: £178.35

The difference is negligible enough to be of no consequence to the decision. This is often the case.

I said I would have fitted them if I could have, which I would.

Got them for my dad's 630d if that counts :p

Literally an argument over nothing :D

Anyway, I'm now running a mix of PS4 & F1A5, which I'm not particularly happy about. Should've just shelled out the extra £50 and get PS4s all round.
Also top tip: if you're looking to refurb knackered wheels with flatspotted tyres - change all 4 tyres at the same time to avoid mixing tyres after realising you need to change all 4 and not just two as the vibrations from the remaining tyres will make the car undriveable.

Costco are running tyre promotions on both Goodyear and Michelin and it appears the base price before the discounts are better than else where.

Goodyear (Required to purchase 4 for the discount)
18" = £80
19" and over = £100
Valid 12/07/2021 until 01/08/2021

Example
Goodyear 225/40 R18 Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 x4 = £207.92
Goodyear 235/35 R19 Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 x4 = £343.56

Michelin (£40 off 2 or £80 off 4)
Valid 21/06/2021 to 18/07/2021

Example
Michelin 225/40 R18 Pilot Sport 4 x2 = £130.60
Michelin 225/40 R18 Pilot Sport 4 x4 = £261.20

------------------------

I'll be picking up 4 Goodyears.

I know they aren't normally the most popular (but I had to get them really due to the unusual size and runflat requirement), but the new P Zero PZ4 are very impressive. Loads more grip than the previous model P Zero.

If I want to retain the 'star rated' tyres for my M135i, these are probably the only decent option at the moment so that's good to know.

15k in on my Pilot Super Sports on the M140i and they are starting to feel a little twitchy at times, will be changing then for PS4S come Autumn.

I ran the PS4S on my M3 for around 35k miles on the back, down to 2.2mm when I changed them, and honestly I couldn't tell the difference between brand new and nearly completely worn out! Really incredible tyres.
