Really enjoying HZD now it's playable. It's making me question why I'm bothering with the OLED Switch when I can't manage 30fps games anymore.

Tried HZD and AC Odyssey. Both are changed massively with the upgrade. The Switch needs more power not just a better screen.

A bit ambiguous as it only refers to the PS4 Pro hardware.

Yeah they probably meant there's no way they could get 60fps on the PS4 Pro.

Really depends on your usage. For me, the Switch is for indies which normally run really, really well, or 1st party titles where you have to suffer 30fps.

60fps is always preferred, but when the option is playing something like Breath of the Wild at 30fps or not, I'll take 30fps every time.

Anyone use a USB external drive with their PS5 for PS4 games? How do you find it and what do you use?

Thanks!

I have a 4tb wd passport drive, it does the job, not super fast, but the loading times from it are not much worse than when using an ssd on a jaguar based console. Of course you dont have to launch games from it, you can use it just as cold storage and move active games to the internal storage.

@wingman The 30 fps on BOTW is a large part of why I didn't get into it really, that said, there are a few 60fps titles like Skyward Sword I have ready to play. I'm hoping in handheld I can tolerate it more anyway, I don't want to miss out.

@Plainsong it absolutely does yes.

Yeah it's a wonderful indie machine and generally first party Nintendo titles run really well. Then you get things like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which was horrible in hand held. I tried to overlook it but it a was a jaggy stuttery mess. Shame because I was enjoying the game but I dropped it fairly early on. If there is a revision with more power I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Think I've been spoilt by all these PS5 60fps games and upgrades. 30 feels horrible to me now.

I've been playing borderlands 3 as I did the £1 Now trial. Can't run it at 120hz, I imagine this is because my PS5 is plugged into my soundbar.

Managed to get one from the drop this week (UK) disc version, CFI-1116A, arrived Fri, and my first impression to myself was "ummph, feels kinda cheap" doesnt feel as dense as expected. Maybe i have good sence of weight, wouldnt of thought 300g would be that noticible...

Or not, to add "cheap" is/was prob wrong word, but size to weight feels off to me.

They have removed a fair bit of heat sink and all the copper It’s a bit early on to be so drastically cost cutting. Any idea if they have improved the RAM cooling on the other side ?

It's interesting reading. There's a reported temp increase (which is almost in the noise imo) but them there's people saying that the higher heat means the chips running cooler, however that seems odd with a slimed down heating although someone said the fan had bigger blades so maybe that's why.

To be fair to him, none of us here has bought a new PS5 and opened it up to compare to a launch version when his video came out.

Or IGN or Eurogamer or Digital Foundry or Gamespot etc etc.

He just made a video confirming what the differences are, the information alone is valuable regardless how much you dislike the presenter.
