Additionally caravaning is not everyone's idea of fun / practical so you'd imagine that after a year or two all the people who were on the fence about it will have jumped i.e. most of the people that would seriously consider owning a caravan would have bought one already. Conversely you will get some people who only bought it to facilitate holidaying during the pandemic who will look to sell, increasing supply and putting downwards pressure on prices.

I guess the smart move is to try and time the drop, i.e. offload your caravan for top dollar and then buy back in when prices fall.

Did a few WBAC and the like just to see what they said a stock Audi C6 RS6 would be worth and on average they offered, at best, only 2/3's of what a private sale could get you for the same mileage/year at around £12k offered vs at the cheapest private sale I could find at £18k (most are still £20k-25k).

I'm guessing some types of cars just aren't worth the hassle for WBAC etc and so they low-ball "just in case" someone is desperate enough to take it.

Yeah I reckon you're right. Anything "partially" specialist with big bills around that age is probably a low ball.

Edit: Mine has just rocketed to 38,500.

It was:

37760 on 17th Sept
38350 on 14th August
35419 on 28th June

In the same time period my mileage has steadily climbed from 8k in June to 10.1k today.

They are really bad on some cars, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, WBAC first offer was 29k, over time its risen towards 35k but privately cars of same spec and miles are selling in the 45-55k region.

Another car the Spyder, their offer is like 30k, privately they are 45-50k.

Also remember they are trade offers and on some cars they just can't take into consideration its worth more because its a manual or a very limited numbers car.

WBAC sell all the good stuff through online car supermarkets which they own. All the rubbish they put through the auction house, which they also own. It's basically a closed market.

Had an 04/13 CRV (46k miles) which was just over £8k trade in Feb, just traded it for £11k this week. The ‘new’ car was similarly over priced in comparison to 8 months ago, but the cost to change felt right to me so deal done and I’m happy.

I can only assume that whilst parts are in short supply for new cars, this will continue.

Prices might not go up much more more, some prices may drop a little now were moving into colder season. But once Spring hits and Summer I can used cars moving up in value again, won't be until 2023 where some of the more regular and normal used cars start to reduce in value again as new car supply improves in 2023. The good stuff however, will probably just keep going up or hold pricing as the new stuff coming is just not as fun except for cars like Toyota GR86, Lotus Emira and potentially a new Honda S2000 though of the latter has been rumoured and mythical for a long time and doubtful they can re-make what made the S2000 so great, though very much marmite which was the F20C engine with its 9000rpm red line and incredible induction noise.

I know Honda are teasing a new Integra at the moment, not heard of an S2k replacement though. I still have my Integra (DC5) sat in my garage. The old Type R’s and S2k’s are well worth looking after now!

Weighs less than 1360kg
2l turbo 350bhp engine from the honda civic type R

Biggest problem it faces is the expected £55k price tag.

And its turbo charged, not exactly special like the F20C was......

Still if they can pull it off at that weight or less and make it sounds reasonably fruity I suspect I shall be buying one. :D

Yes it’s a good point. The car we replaced it with would cost more now too but not quite as much so we have lost out, but not by the full 5k the Evoque has increased by

Well I heard on the radio this morning Uk new car registrations was only 214k cars in September, the lowest its ever been in 23 years. And a lot of manufacturers are saying they will be making less cars next year than this year so I honestly cant see the mad used car values changing until 2023.
