I get that and recall the Lovren one which was a bit weird vs Spurs years ago.

But I've seen that given as offside plenty of times, including when VAR has been in play? Past two weeks can't be the first time this scenario has happened recently.

No idea, dont know if the rule has changed recently or not but everyone was in agreement, both commentators and the in studio referee, so I guess its the correct decision and disallowing it actually would have been the wrong decision
