My Sub is arriving today! :)

I assume I need to redo Trueplay now that I'm adding that to the setup.

Regarding Trueplay. My set up is to the right on our living room , I assume I need to walk the whole room and not just the listening area?

What do you do when you reach say a coffee table? Just walk round it or lean over the top and wave it above too

I did it ages ago

Tried toggling off and on when watching a film the other day and didn't notice a difference at all so maybe I did it wrong originally
 
I normally just walk around and move the phone around the place with the aim of passing the phone through as much of the space in the room as I can. So yeah, I'd wave it around over the coffee table.
 
Just wave above it and then down to where it is, then just go around it.

Phase 1 - Sit dead center in line with the arc/beam/etc and hold the device at eye level and about 12 inches in front of you. Sit how you would normally watch the screen, just make sure it's dead center. Make sure it's also dead silence so no breaking wind :D

Phase 2 - Start standing up dead center again, then slowly wave the device up as high as you can reach, then as low as you can go without the device touching an object. Make sure you aren't covering the microphone at all. Then just make your way around the room. I tend to go left first to the back corner and then work my way round all the corners, then come back across the middle of the room.

Might take a few attempts to work out the timings, but you want to ensure its slow enough, but quick enough to reach all the above.

Just set the sub up and linked to my system! Was being funny to start with, wouldn't connect to my WiFi but I reset the router and all is good now!

Not done Trueplay yet as kids only just gone to bed but will do shortly.

Even without that though it adds a lovely bit of depth to the sound. Had a quick go on this racing game I'm playing on ps5 and it really brings the engine rumble alive! Toggled it off and it sounds flat now :D

Regarding the network, I'm on wireless for all of this kit. Is that ok? Any reason to go wired with the beam is wired to the TV for most of its audio anyway?

Can't connect all of them via ethernet but would I see any benefit doing so with the beam? Never really thought about it until now
 
Na, all wireless is perfectly fine. No need unless you start noticing any odd drop outs or conflicts with anything, but it shouldn't as creates its own network.
 
Had first Sonos unit die, an original Play:1 just stopped working, no power or LED, factory reset not working and neither is another cable.

Will see what Sonos say but guessing its out of warranty so will open it up and see what's what.
 
My current surround speakers and amp are just too big for our current living room, so considering a Beam (Gen 2) and a maybe a couple of those ikea shelf speakers.

I note that you're supposed to use a device with NFC for setup. My phone lacks that. Is it possible to set them up without it? A quick browse of the Sonos website would suggest not. Looking at inviting a friend with an suitable iOS device to visit to help with setup if I go down that route.
 
I believe it’s required in order to get the first speaker on your wireless. It might work if you plugged it in to the network though, I can’t remember what I first did.
 
Anyone have much experience with the in ceiling speakers?

We are doing some extensive renovations at home, in my living room / kitchen & dining area on the ground floor I have 2 Play 5's paired which are great however they don't quite fit in with the wifes aesthetic plan :rolleyes: and she wants rid of them. There are currently 2 speakers in the ceiling left over from the previous owners home cinema system but they are 20 years old so will be pulling them out and patching anyway as part of the ceiling / lighting upgrade. I'm thinking of 4 in ceiling speakers but wondering if they are as good as the rest of the range and how many your need per m2 if there is such an equation? I have only just realised they need an amp to run however the amp can run three pairs. On the plus side she cant move them and mess up my truplay settings, downside is I cant see how the music coming from above you rather than in front of you can sound as good? I also don't really want or need an amp although I could put in inside a unit out of the way with a turntable.
