I'm gonna start a war....6900XT vs 3080ti

My honest advise just don't over think it like I did , people treat computer hardware like their favourite football team and defend it to the end and pick holes in the opposite team for no real reason when they are both good products.

If you can get a 6900xt for £1200-1400 but the 3080ti is 1700-1800 get 6900xt all day long, if you can get a 3090 at 1400-1500 get the 3090

I went to amd after only having nvidia gpus and was sceptical for no reason other than reading things people say online honestly no regrets I actually prefer the radeon software to nvidias its much more user friendly for me and the image sharpening tool is amazing

I think RT is stupid, DLSS on the other hand...

Depends on how RT is used, for lighting effects sometimes the more accurate RT implementation can look meh vs the version taking artistic license. Eventually it will be the standard lighting system used but thats a way off yet.

I really don't miss Ray tracing, having used it in games on my 2080Ti (CP2077, Metro etc) i does make a difference, reflections especially, but not having it hasn't once dampened my enjoyment of a game or it's visuals, CP for example still looks incredible IMHO maxed out on a 6900Xt.

At the moment for me RT does little to add to my gameplay experience, (I'm sure this will change as we progress forward) but, DLSS does, i think it's absolutely awesome and can take a game from unplayable to perfectly playable while maintaining high quality visuals, that for me is tech i can get behind and would be the only reason i'd pick a 3080Ti over the 6900XT at the same price point currently.

Swings and roundabouts, we are all getting shafted at the moment, just a case of deciding with rod hurts less for you, red or green.

There's...there's a way you can change that? All these years on the forum and it never occurred to me to look...
OMG. Never even new this was an option....even though it seems so obvious it would be!

Not gone over board I've just moved it up a nudge. It's under profile -> preferences

Yeah, just done that myself. Hallelujah!

I think DLSS is more important than RT personally. Not that the latter isn't impressive, but it's not the most significant factor in great graphics yet. Look at the Unreal 5 tech demo, incredible visual fidelity but without RT. I'm not saying that RT wouldn't improve it, but it seems demanding enough on hardware as it is (and will clearly benefit from DLSS).

I had the MSI 6900xt in my basket several times but the RMA problems with that particular (cheaper) card put me off.

Then I got lucky and bought a 3080ti FE at a "better" price.

I really enjoyed control with Ray tracing and have found dlss useful in a few other games and I rarely notice any artifacts.

Either of these cards would have been fine for me and I think both will last for a long time.

I've pretty much swapped between AMD/ati and Nvidia each time I've upgraded.
I hope I can get a competitive AMD card when the 3080ti is finally out of date.

I would never touch an MSI graphics card again. They are quite happy to send the same card back unfixed or someone elses broken card. Loads of horror stories on the MSI_Gaming subreddit, people have sent cards away 5 or 6 times only to receive another dud back.

Yea. Heard too much bad stuff about them in the last couple of years. I won’t be touching them any time soon if I can help it.

Unless my monitor has developed a sudden flaw where image quality is lowered on the right side of the screen, the still image from 1:07 looks much better on the left side with more defined details in the textures and better colours. Now why that is I'm not gonna speculate on. Could be an error in the video editing process, could be something else. Look in the spoiler for a quick reference.

the amd one is using FSR which has a sharpening pass while the Nvidia one is native with TAA

It could be the wrong LOD offset if DLSS is in use or even the depth of field effect not performing as expected.

I thought the missing detail on the left would be of more concern, such as -
