Would appreciate some advice regarding replacing a couple of internal pir's to my home alarm system because the connector that attach them to the wall has broken. It's a wired system, so it would only be a matter of a straight swap. I've had a look online but wonder if all the pir's are the same or would there be a particular type that I should be getting. Wondering too about the best place to purchase.
Thanks

All wired PIRs are much of a muchness. I use Pyronix PIRs.

Just out of curiosity do you also have a Pyronix alarm? My Texecom alarm kit shipped with wireless PIR's but I've wired the house to take wired PIR's, I've seen nicer looking PIR's from other manufactures just wondering if their all compatible.

Wired PIRs are interchangeable. Wireless tend to be proprietary to each alarm system. I install Pyronix alarms but I don't have in in my own house. I use Ajax at home. My Ajax is a hybrid, wired and wireless so I do have some Pyronix PIRs and Dual Techs.

Thanks @SimonR any particular wired PIR model you'd personally recommend?

I tend to use Pyronix KX10DP 10m Pet Immune Wired PIR Detector, as they have pet immunity and EOL built in. They run between £10 and £12 inc

Do all wired PIR sensors show the solid red light when they detect movement, even if the alarm is not armed? Just had a cheap mains system installed (veritas)? And when not armed, the red light comes on when the PIR sensors detect you walking by. Is it normal behavior? Or could another PIR sensor if installed, not show the red light when not armed?

That's normal. Some PIRs have a switch on the back to turn off the LED if it bothers you, not sure how common it is though.

Most PIRs have a jumper inside to turn the notification LED off. Its pretty common with most brands.

Excellent, it looks like I have some Texecom Veritas Reflex PIR Motion Detectors that have been installed. They look a little cheap, so might not have the jumper. If I get annoyed by the light I guess I will look to replace the one in the front room with another. Do you know if the Pyronix KX10DP 10m Pet Immune Wired PIR Detector has the jumper? It's good to know that all PIR detectors are one and the same from a wired isntallation point. Guess I will have to figure out how to turn the tamper proof setting off, if I go ahead and change the PIR at some point!
