The more people I listen to on the TV and Radio, together with reading internet posts makes me think a vast majority don't realise if a NATO country were to engage, it would lead to WW3. I include some politicians in that.

"The Russians", you mean a few thousand out of a country of 144 million, protesting their government's choice to wage war on a country. What would you like the British people to be protesting then? Further sanctions or Getting directly involved on the ground?
Your always going to have some sane people protesting against war in any civilised society. Just look at Vietnam and the Iraq wars as an example.

It’s only nutters sitting in relative safety calling for war or that a lack of warlike behaviour is weak. Ok well send your kids mine are fine at home thanks.

Yep. A very specific question to try and differentiate Russian actions from our own.

when did WE last annex Ukraine???!!!!

somewhat like the biggest war in Europe type quotes. We like wars in other continents much better.

Thats because our actions are very different from Russias, the west didnt try to annex Afghanistan or Iraq.

True, on both accounts.

Putin apparently has changed over the years, he doesn't really give a **** about what other countries think now. In the early days he got on pretty well with some leaders like Berlusconi. There's even a time he was in stitches laughing at one of our own Robin Cook's jokes but those times are long behind us. The threat from NATO, real or manufactured, has galvanised the thoughts on a more imperialist looking Russia.

This has now probably set in motion the global outlook for much of the next few decades.

Rumours are that he is health is not great(Russian life expectency isn't great):

Apparently he might have Parkinson's.

Also sadly the Russian economic collapse of the 1990s is why things are happening the way they are - it meant the people who could leave, left. What you had remaining is those who could not leave or were too young and for many their first taste of the new ways was only pain and suffering. The powers that be used that to quietly removed Yeltsin and put in their own guy.....Putin who wanted a return to the old ways and promoted stability(but at the cost of erroding freedoms). Putin was a nobody, hence why they quietly got Yeltsin to step down before his term was up. So when people talk about Putin, they forget its not only him,but the old-timers who helped put him into the position in the first place, and helped him keep it.

The BBC made a good documentary about this:

Indeed I wouldn't go to war or send any of my loved ones even if you pointed a gun at my head. For most normal people pointing a gun at a fellow human being is inconceivable.

I don’t think that Latvia or Lithuania would jump for joy to find out that they’d suddenly got a new member in their “all for one, and one for all” club, that is at the moment being attacked by a strong country.
I'm from Lithuania, and i'm shocked at what's is happening in Ukraine. We are sending them arms, ammunition, and other aid. As we feel like this is a war for freedom and choise. We have independance, but only as long as putin hasn't decided that he wants us. The problem is when he'll be ready, he will do it matter of hours, as nothing could stop him. That goes to all baltic states, as our countrys are quite small in size, so for them to get from one side to other, especially when you have Kaliningrad next to us. So we believe that if he'll get Ukraine, why he won't come to us. And we wouldn't mind getting Ukriane to NATO asap. But as we know, that could lead to ww3. And nobody wants it, so Ukraine will be sacrifised to avoid ww.

Muhammad Ali praised by millions for his refusal to kill human beings for a tyrannical government.

But if you don’t want to fight Russians or indefensible Middle Easterns then you are weak. :D.

No mate I don’t benefit from wars and death neither did I cause them. Jog on.

Shitstain country with a GDP roughly comparable to the Netherlands when you remove the revenues from their exploitation of Oil and Gas, despite a landmass 40x larger and a population 9x larger. Like that fat bully at the back of the class who brought absolutely nothing to lessons except disruption, throwing things at his classmates and profiting through intimidation. Totally unhinged, corrupt leadership. European nations who rely on Russian exports of literally anything need to decouple asap.

And just LOL at the weeks of raucous laughter from Russian ‘news’ stations and Maria Zakharova, looking directly at the camera lens and stating categorically that Russia will not invade Ukraine and anything to the contrary is just Western propaganda. Total cesspit of a nation.

As seen earlier on a tweet if Putin manages to absorb the military of Ukraine with the massive amounts of armour it has and not loose too many of its own, that will be a very scary situation for the next countries on his hit list.
