Afghanistan was bombed out of the stone age if anything, infrastructre was built, women and girls could go to school and work, shame America decided to give up on it really.

And Iraq is no longer controlled by a psychopathic fascist.
They gave their own interests the contracts to rebuild what they destroyed.

They are no better off now than they were before or are they?

Quite chilling when Smokin' Joe wouldn't answer the China question yesterday.
Predictably they'll back Russia and then talk about their own situation with Taiwan.

Interesting Joe Biden said putting NATO troops on the ground will paramount to another WW but what will NATO do if Russia goes after one of the NATO countries nearby and warns again along the lines of "if anyone interferes we will respond immediately and your countries will experience things never experienced before" - a nuclear threat seemingly. In that situation NATO will have to act. Not a great situation for those to the North of Ukraine
Maybe NATO should have took a tougher stance when that warning was issued by Russia yesterday.

'Completely over the top' - whereas welding people shut in their homes is completely rational? Stop feeding into the propaganda machine mate.

Eh? Propaganda machine for what? The point still stands, this is something many historians have commented on for a long time, the appetite for risk in the west in any form is now very low. This is absolutely something Russia and China have been tracking in their foreign policy.

Just having the equipment, armour and manufacturing capacity to build more. He can fill them with quickly trained crews not necessarily Ukrainian personnel.

So yes, but turning a crew round into something other than certified battlefield target practice is quite something else, it takes a massive amount of time, money and practice.

This is a dicatorship hence the scenes of police silencing people protesting in Moscow, you will no doubt do as your told or face hard labour or worse.

Which is fair enough, but i bet they are going to fight mighty hard and morale will be excellent, all winning ingredients.

What the hell does Zelensky want us to do? Start WW3?
The question is has Putin already started it. Maybe we should have called his bluff (in reality Russia doesn't want nuclear war either unless he's totally mad which I doubt) and surprised him at least with air support and made him think about the costs. Instead we have confirmed we are as weak as he thought we were which emboldens him to target more countries in the future with much bigger consequences for us.

He's probably thinking why didn't he invade the entire country before as we would have put up no real resistance.

More enlightening than the "this is what I believe maybe be happening, based on the rumours I've heard and this is what is most certainly going to happen next" type nonsense :p
Who'd have thought... a discussion based on peoples opinion on a discussion forum, nobody says opinion needs to be correct, and thats where counter arguments come in to correct. If you have nothing constructive to add, just move on to another thread, its not difficult.

It was in June wasn't it? Russia will be a democracy by then.
End of September, no great loss though, Sochi was a dismal track.

The world is afraid of Puty boy.

NATO should act now and stop that idiot. WW3? Who knows but, is it right to let Puty storm into a country and try to take it over?

Iraqis are undoubtedly better off not being under the control of Saddam Hussein, its very hard for those of us living in relative freedom to imagine being under that kind of regime.

I dislike war but I dislike fascism even more.

Putin is 70 years old. Those 'old-timers' are probably long dead or knocking on death door.

I was talking about how he got into power, and how he consolidated it. In Soviet Russia most of these guys never retired...they only left politics/government when they died. They stayed behind after the USSR collapsed and put in their guy. Plus look at the age of a lot of his inner circle - late 60s,and well into their 70s. Their whole worldview is skewed 30 years in the past. Demographics are not in his favour too. The younger people have only experienced a country where freedoms are going downhill as is the standard of living. It makes me wonder whether we will see another fall of a Russian government in the next few years. It might explain why he doesn't care anymore.

I was really surprised that this is fake and actually from DCS World game

The real story behind this is apparently there's a UFA pilot the nation has labelled as "The Ghost of Kiev" who's flying around in a Mig-29 downing Russian aircraft

Agreed, although I'm not an expert, but this weak response by letting a democracy fall to an evil dictator is only going to bite us harder in the future. We will have no choice but to respond militarily nuclear war or not if he attacks a NATO country and there is a decent chance Finland and Sweden will now become NATO members which escalates the situation.

Indeed, the threat of nuclear weapons is either a bluff or the man has completely lost it and will just threaten us with them when tries to take another country which he doesn't believe has a right to independence.

Cyber attacks and conventional forces maybe but nukes, I don't see it and if it happens the whole world is ****** anyway.

The west needs to show strength right now and sometimes the only way to stand up to a bully is to punch them in the face.
