I remember going to Hungary and just finding it really weird how flat it was (I live in s Wales valleys, so my horizon is literally a mile or two).

You could probably go up a stepladder and see 50 miles.

Ideal armour country, if you have air superiority.

Well this is one of the reasons that overspill is such a big risk. Whilst there is resistance, it will rely on help from NATO countries and may even become co-ordinated by a Ukraine govt in exile from one. Russia might get drawn into operating a no fly zone to limit that and hey presto, NATO military assets are "accidentally" (ie, whatchoo gonna do about it?) fired upon.

She’s literally saying the media were spreading lies about an invasion coming, yet they did in fact invade. The delusion is incredible.

The west could liquidate the frozen assets from sanctions to fund it.

I'm just thinking many of the Russian troops didn't sign up for this. Some kind of incentive to get them to defect would help weaken the opposition.

Impossible, need to give confidence of somewhere to live, generate an income, family protection. Who funds that? Certianly not Ukraine.

Not sure how Putin would feel about another country trying to defect Russian Soldiers.

Whatever the military outcome the 21st century cold war has just begun. If puty was complaining about Russia being isolated by the world, well welcome home. Belarus, Russia and a reluctant Ukraine are your empire to behold.

The average salary for a Russian soldier is about 12k, compare that to the 100k cost of a javelin rocket and their salary could be paid many times over.

Economically it's viable. I admit it would be difficult to do without NATO becoming implicated however.

The problem is the Sykes-Picot agreement ended up making countries which cut across ethnic and religious lines,leading to massive instability. The whole region is an entire mess now.

Thousands and thousands of hours of Civilization, EU, AOE , C&C, SC, Supcom, etc... :D I wouldn't be surprised some people are better tacticians or strategists around than the actual army dudes.
The theory anyhow, practice of warfare is a whole different matter.


I am very surprised Russia actually attacked Ukraine. I'm following a telegram group with video's from Ukraine with video's of attacks and such, I'm quite curious to find more (but unfortunately OcUK doesn't want this in this thread :( )

I dont think it ever went away, they have been sizing each other up even since the cold war apparently ended

You can say what you want about him but that is a true leader, he could have easily relocated to Lviv but he stayed in his Capital to control his country until the last possible moment

You would never see anything of the likes from Joe or Boris
