He threatened the entire world if they try to prevent him from his military operation in Ukraine, if you don't know about if's and but's in the future how can you say it's rubbish he would never attack a NATO nation, talk about contradiction, you either know or you don't....

Come on man, try to be reasonable!

I said he has not threatened any existing NATO member states as of now. I'll now add specific threat to an existing NATO country, as you are referencing the vauge threat he made against any country that crosses him the other day. I'm happy to be wrong, but inre read my posts and I don't think I said he would never attack A NATO country in the future.
The if's and buts comment was your weird hypothetical regarding Finland. I can't predict what will happen in the future, but not can you :p

I was just seeing on twitter men being dragged off evacuation coaches by Ukraine army to go and fight imagine having to say goodbye to your family then and there what a horrible mess this is.

To be fair if they're of fighting age then... That's what all our grandparents had to do in WW2 when the UK was at risk. If they're not needed then by all means best thing to do would be to get to the West of the country or hop over the border to Poland etc... if they are needed/can help then really they ought to.

It's also the thing that bugs me about refugees arriving in the UK, they're disproportionately men of fighting age who really ought to have stayed in their own countries.

Would hope in the heat of it I'd have the balls to do it. Tough decision with a family, but if you think about what our ancestors gave in previous world wars...

:(
Given the choice of being killed and terrible things happening to my family I would rather fight. It’s not something we can run from when it happens.

Jeez, bbc is reporting civilians in kiev are being armed.

This is going to be horrific.

Yeah I do not understand this move at all. Fog of war. Untrained civilians. All of this leads to friendly fire on top of civilians getting massacred by both sides as apparently there are russian saboteurs in ukraininan military uniform.

Can Nato fast track countries as new members if they want to? Like make exceptions/new rules in extreme times such as these I wonder? Maybe the thinking is that if a country applies to become a Nato member, Russia attack them and take over before the application gets completed. I'm sure I read becoming a member is a long thing usually taking years?

NATO lite maybe, accompanied by some form of boiler plate todo's to bring them up to full members.

Personally I'd rather take my chances to be with my family rather than fight despite doing military service. **** that. We need to move on as a race from this ****.

Most civilians are trained. They will have done national service.

Perhaps some wil begin to respect and understand the sacrifice the previous generation gave us, instead of moaning

So a threat to Finland and Sweden now too if they seek NATO membership.
NATO should now just fast track anyone wishing to join with a temporary membership until fully admitted :D.

I'm one of the first to point out issues historically and recently in the West but the stance being taken here by Russia is really unacceptable,

The West should call Ukraines leader a coward and tell him to hit the streets with a rifle, if he wants stop anyone 18-60 leaving and forcing them into conscription to save his own skin.

Ukraine government can carry on without him, who needs a leader like that
Lol nice to see what this generation of made of luckily for the Ukraine they still have a sense of duty

oh man this could get messy, they really should just surrender. nobody wants to see ordinary civillians going up against trained soldiers
To be honest I'm surprised that in barely over 24 hours of the conflict the Ukrainian president has asked citizens to use Molotov's and ak47 against the Russian army etc.

It's terrible what's happening but I don't think a responsible government would ask this of their citizens

Hard to say living in a country with a different system and culture and values but it seems a bit "off" to me.

Daughter of Putin's spokesperson posted anti-war message:

Also, re: this:
Some reports that they're feeling a bit disillusioned, I'd perhaps take these with a pinch of salt though it's worth remembering that back in Soviet times it wasn't uncommon for Russian troops from say the far East being sent to Hungary or (then) Czechoslovakia would be shocked to find that they weren't welcomed as fellow comrades/liberators upon arrival:

Seems to be more updates on this, claims that Russian soldiers were initially told they were just going to the border for military drills:

I'd like to think I would stay personally. Seeing my country fall into the terrible state it was a decade ago. Looking at my children having in the back of my mind I could have at least tried (assuming I fled). No shame in running. Some friends have only just got into Poland after being on the move for 2 days.

I think maybe there isn't really a big push until as many civilians as possible are out of Kyiv. Leveling Kyiv with women and children still there would mean no coming back for Putin - on any level in any arena. He'll wait until it's only those with a gun in their hand then give an ultimatum to surrender or die.

Just a different culture. Nothing sinister, just incredibly patriotic.
