It is well known that Korea and Vietnam would have been different without the massive support given by the USSR and China.

The same thing may play out here.

Hopefully we are prepared and can assist the refugees; whether transporting here or supplying Poland etc

Quite right I have. Such is the nature of language, I think that as the world and its available methods change you have to redefine things. There are more ways to wage war, for example, today than ever before. A modern "war" isnt restricted to merely shooting ammo at each other and in that way even the term "war" itself is already redefined from the traditional concept

How many nations involvement creates a "world" war then?

Almost 20 countries were supplying weapons to the mujahadin during Afghanistan war.

Would that make that a world war?

A world war by EVERY definition, is one where war is going on in multiple countries around the world at the same time, between the same two sides, allies and axis, in all those countries around the world.

The problem is and always has been appeasement. People like Putin will always have to be dealt with eventually and the longer you kick that can down the road the worse it gets.

I get it, no one wants war and war is horrific, but let's get this straight. This is a war HE created, a war HE WANTS and if it's left to continue, nuclear war is inevitable regardless. Although I think we're nowhere near that stage.... Yet.

It should have never have gotten to this point and you'd have thought we'd have learnt our lessons with all the previous world wars but alas here we are.


NATO exists because of him. No country wants to spend billions on an army of it doesn't have to. The world is struggling with poverty, food shortages, global warming and illness. If there were no ego centric madmen left we could focus more on real issues other than some old dude clinging on to a dead idea and failed experiments.

I hate seeing all the deaths but I love the fact Russia is getting it's ass handed to it and the west is on the most part, United. In a weird way, it reminds me of the beginning of COVID, the feeling of unity and togetherness towards a common goal.

Quite possibly, put it this way, if you are involved in a knife fight in the street with a guy and each time you get the upper hand , the guys mate hands him another knife. How many people are you fighting? 1 or 2? I would say 2, it doesnt require the mate to actually be throwing his own punches at you to be "in" the fight. So imo that makes it a 3 person fight, if I then extend that logic to this situation, 30 countries doing that makes it (by my definition) a 30 country fight and 30 countries makes it a world war. Now obviously I'm fairly certain 99.9999% of people will disagree with me but thats fine, it would be a boring world if we all agreed :)

Are you really going to then punch his mate and then have 30 others pile on top of you though? Russia really that stupid?

Soon find out if there's reports somewhere. This isn't going to end well. I wonder if the 28 nations will supply any anti-aircraft machinery. If they do then there' a lot of Russian planes going to be downed.

Russia have a couple of options;
* "mir' is a Russian owned payments system although nobody uses outside of Russia..
* the Chinese may act as proxies for payments
